Agreed, there are many great cartoons out there these days. I miss Ren and Stimpy especially, though.

I think it's that they take everything purely at face value, so all the irony/parody/social commentary is just lost on them. At that point, yeah, I imagine Bobby Hill is just a dumb kid. It must be weird to view TV through such unquestioning eyes.

My Shows were Inspector Gadget and Danger Mouse.

Danger Mouse packed more Puns into a single 10 minute episode than Rocky and Bullwinkle did in to 2 half hour episodes with multiple segments.
Plus Danger Mouse's British Humor that doesn't make us yanks go WTF is a plus. ALWAYS a Plus.

I'm always down with Ren and Stimpy and Rocko, DOUG too Doug was great at least when I was a kid, As an adult it's lost on me. And in the 80s Nick showed alot of anime and it was Awesome anime which as a Kid I wanted nothing to do with. As an adult jadded by anime I want to look back at what was on Nick then as GOOD and Anime are rarely used in the same sentance these days.

Actually I just thought Mike Judge was too intent on Creating idiots that he was one himself and thus wasn't looking for Social Commentary.

I have all the Ren and Stimpy on DVD. Me and my gramma used to watch it when it was still on the air.

I'm waiting for them to release all the Ren & Stimpy episodes in one giant DVD set...unedited. I hate the fact that the DVD releases have more edits than the NICK showings...that's bullshit.

My favorite episode has to be "A Dog's Life/Egg Yolkeo" god those were classics.

They have a few edits, but they also have a few extra scenes like in Ren Hoek.

One of my favorite Ren & Stimpy characters was Wilbur Cobb. If you don't know who he is...I'm sorry. He was the grossest, nastiest, old man in cartoon form...and his body parts would slide off sometimes haha.

I never was in to Ren and Stimpy. I always thought it was "cool" to like the show, therefore I never took much interest in it when I was younger.

Ren and Stimpy is probably the only really fucked up thing I've ever liked.

I have NO idea how the show was even approved for Nick. NO IDEA. It sure wouldn't be now it doesn't star the slutty sister of a pop star nor would Tweens like like it due to lack of wanna be popstars....

Rocko is another classic, there was a LOT of shit that I wonder how it got through the Nick censors as well. Especially the dude ranch episode where Heffer hooks up a milking machine to himself and you literally see him get off.

Ren and Stimpy always had interesting music playing in the backgrounds.

What was the name of the song that played through part of Wilbur Cobbs segment? I think it was from a play but I can't remember.
