I thought it's maybe time for me to introduce my collection & myself. I've been browsing on assemblergames for quite some time now (2yrs I think?) and I saw many collections that truly impressed me. Mine won't be able to compete with many of the greater ones, but as I'm only 18yrs old (as of 23rd Nov. 2007), I still have the hope and ambition to be able to compete with them in the future =) I started collecting in fall 2003 with the purchase of an used, unboxed PAL Dreamcast. I owned around 25 games in total back then (GB, N64, XB & GBA). In January 2004, I bought my first Japanese game: Soul Calibur (dc) as it was cheaper than the PAL version... thats how I got into import collecting to which I'm fairly addicted by now. But I'm far from regretting it I focussed on collecting jpn MD/SAT/DC games b/c I love the whole SEGA lineup and their style of designing games/covers/innovative hard & soft. Pictures of my collection are spread around the thread. Enough text, enjoy!
I usualy like more specifc colections. People who are pasionate about one or 2 machines. But if I said I wasn't jealous of you collection I would be a liar. Thanks for sharing.
I'm paying all that stuff with my monthly budget of ~50-70€. Recently I've been selling cheap pal trash for enormous prices, which allowed me to buy almost all of the jpn MD games. @fisheye I see your point and I agree. But I'm getting the direction with jp MD/SAT/DC... I'm already a little passionate about Saturn though (~230games).
230 games for the saturn .... It's my favorite system, altough my sega saturn as been dying on me for several years. Still, gotta love that failed venture feel to it, an almost ruin like apeall
Added pictures of all my hardware (consoles and accessory). Its some rather uncommon stuff beneath them such as Satellaview, Neo Geo and my Gundam GC and lots of "normal" collectibles in mostly nice condition. Enjoy I'll add pictures of my room tomorrow. I actually think its far more interesting to see games and hardware stored away in shelfs than as single pieces on tables. Don't ask me why I started it just like that -.-"
My bags were quite empty actually. Just clothes and about 5 games. I had another solution for getting stuff from there to here ^_^ ~60kg (8 packages, 7-15kg each) XD
When I came back from Japan I left ALL MY CLOTHES, alarm clock and crap there to replace them with games. Thats the way to do it I planned this from the start, so I only packed old clothes to begin with. PS: Nice collection, but your software link is a 404.
Fixed it. I did not have that much clothes in my luggage actually but heavy stuff like gifts for relatives and books. I was already 3kg over the limit when I checked in though, but luckily they didn't say anything.
THE ROOM The TV. I'm gonna buy a 37" LCD HDTV next month - I don't have any nexgen consoles, but I'm a filmfan so do I have a choice? Surrounding my TV-setup: The main shelf Normally there is my Samba de Amigo Boxset and jpn Mega Drive standing in front of that shelf, I'm really running out of space. MD, MS, SFC, N64, some GB/C/A and Dreamcast. Love those jpn MD spines  PAL Saturn collection as well as some more Dreamcast, PS2 and the portables, DS & PSP. THE OTHER SHELF Random boxes. Everything except the Guitar Hero-guitar is in its box right now, I hope the cupboard will stand it... ^^ Almost all of my limited boxset stuff. I'd love to have more space in my shelfs to present them how they deserve it. Lower section of the metal shelf. One Xbox box is empty, its from my 1st Xbox which felt like dying one day so I bought another boxed and sold the old one. If somebody wants the PSX racing wheel: I'm selling it - Its brand-new. THE JPN CORNER All of my jpn CD/HuCard games (that came in regular CD-cases). STUFF The glass shelf has 6 or 7 levels actually, but most of it is not thaaat interesting (Neo Geo Pockets, GameBoy accessory, Meltylancer LE for Saturn and 2 papercraft Metal Gears) I believe. Ikaruga Appreciate DVD, Gradius guidebook, mini Twin Famicom (bought it for 380yen in Kyoto. The SMB-cart in it is removable ^__^) and, errr..., my cat lady from Japan. She behaves like an animal in certain situations (for example when climbing on a Twin Famicom). Upper section: My almost complete Mini DS Gashapon series (it's missing only 2 out of 13 games and 1 white DS). Lower section: JPN GC games (very few, I know) and something that fell off the back of a lorry. ;-) -ave
Awesome collection right there man, very nice. I wish I was that far (or even as dedicated) when I was 18. I love how tidy and in order everything is. Heh, how in gods name where you able to ship those packages to you without customs bleeding you dry with taxes?
@ashpool I did not pay any taxes at all They were declared as "20$, old games" each. Only one of them got stucked at the custom office. It was one of the heaviest, with the Gundam GC, controllers and about 30 Saturn-games. I had a forth-and-back filled-with-lies talk of 20 minutes with the guy at the office and when he was so confused that he seemed to be only one step away from suicide, he said if I promise its under 40 EUR value, it's ok. I was lucky indeed^^ @graziano thx^^ RETROSPECTION My complete collection at 24/April/2004 (the Mario Kart DD wasn't even mine, just borrowed) I got a bank account the other day, that was actually when I really got that collecting thing started. Before that I had to ask my parents to transfer money for ebay stuff and they limited it to 3 items a month. Hard times XD
Hehe, lucky indeed. In my experience german customs don't care much about the declaration, if it's heavy/big enough they hold it and ask you to produce invoices etc. for the stuff so they can charge you properly. Anyhow, nice going!
