Beautiful re arrangement of stuff ave! It looks damn sweet!! I just love doing that, I'd say it's one of the most fun parts of collecting (besides playing the games, of course )
Damn, it only I were so lucky, in Denmark, if you don't get the seller to declare as 20USD gift, and for some reason some won't, then you get tagged. And in Denmark it's 32,5% of total value, 25% tak and 12,5% import tax, a real drag:-/ Luckily most of the time, it goes right through when declared as low price gift, yet sometimes it dosen't, I've paid a lot of $$ in taxes since Janury 08, when I started collecting for real:-/
Beautiful, I'm jealous!!! I wish I had room for a cab, I just can't physically fit one anywhere in my house. A large games room is definitely top of the list next time I buy a house.
Thanks for all the nice comments! I don't get it ^^ Can you explain (although this will destroy the joke)? What about the Blob? I got this DVD (I don't think the film is that much fun even) a couple of years ago in a wholesale. I wished I could get rid off that though, like some 30 or 50 other DVDs, but these are just not worth a shit anymore, so I simply keep them and enjoy the 5.1 sound. @DrDoak I still live at my parent's, so my expectations regarding space are pretty low. In fact, my room feels a littel TOO claustrophobic now, although I never expected that feeling to occur. Actually, I bought the cabinet mainly because it was a dream of mine and I wanted one regardless of the consequences that I'll have to bear after the purchase, lol. The offer was REALLY good and I know the seller personally from several shmup meets, so I really couldn't say no. But the whole quality that this cab radiates will, I guess, only be revealed when I have the space available that is "required". Like in "Ken's collection" which I consider an ideal game-room. PS: Updates soon!! I'll receive a couple of Gradius-games within the next couple of days as well as some other goodies (on vinyl & more).
Loving the SEGA representation you have. Nicely displayed. Thought I would drop by to say good luck with the collecting
Thanks for the good luck. To be quite frank I indeed have luck since I started earning some money through being a civil servant. It's such a hard thing to keep the bucks, so many temptations!! Received my first package from Japan for months today. I'm quite interested how Thexder turns out to be like on the Famicom. Surprisingly there is a sequel (or remake?) called Thexder Neo available for the PSP! It was released as a part of those small PSPgo online games whose name I forgot. Anyway it makes a pretty good impression on the video, great effects in 3D-2D there. Why the hell did they get the idea to make a sequel to an unknown PC-88/98/MSX/Famicom game? The last game in the series was Thexder 95 which looked like utter shite and now, 14yrs after that we get Thexder Neo. yeee... Some Japanese vinyl. Hako Yamasakis first two albums Tobimasu (飛びます) and Tsunawatari (綱渡り). The other one is from Yoshida Tsukurou. The music of all those artists (incl. Maki's on the next pic) is a great mix of JPN folk, blues & bar jazz, I can only recommend it! Very enjoyable, and proof that "Japanese music" is not necessarily connected to Visual Kei and other shite. The first two releases of Maki Asakawa in perfect condition as well as her fifth album (bottom). 浅川マキの世界 (M.A. no Sekai) being the first, she introduced herself as an outstanding singer with a very unusual voice. It's definitely one of my favourite artists of all time and I'm glad I could get her first works on vinyl in outstanding condition. All LP's are complete w/spine and lyrics sheets as well as flyers if originally attached. The carton is different from other vinyl / gatefold covers I've got my hands on so far, dunno how to describe it. It feels "rough", like a pizza carton LOL. Anyone here who can tell me if this is common place with Japanese vinyl? I don't know if it is better than the usual shiny and smooth surface of vinyl covers, but it's definitely different. The cardboard itself is way thicker, too. I probably never mentioned it but I regard myself a Gradius nut. I really love the games although I'm not exactly the best player. My collection contains the following media & several gigabytes of Gradius/Salamander/Parodius superplays. Original Japanese Gradius-games (& Paro, Salamander) I own: 1. Gradius (Famicom) 2. Gradius (PC-Engine) 3. Gradius Deluxe Pack (Saturn / Gradius 1 + 2 Arcade perfect ports) 4. Gradius II ~ Gofer no Yabou (Famicom) 5. Gradius II ~ Gofer no Yabou (PC-Engine SCD) 6. Nemesis (GB) 7. Gradius Gaiden (PS) 8. Gradius III & IV (PS2 / Arcade perfect ports) 9. Gradius Generation (GBA) 10. Gradius V (PS2) 11. Konami MSX Antiques (Saturn / contains ports of MSX Gradius-games, Salamander, Parodius) 12. Salamander (Famicom) 13. Salamander Deluxe Pack Plus (Saturn / contains arcade perfect ports of both Salamander games) 14. Gokujou Parodius Deluxe Pack (Saturn / Parodius 1 & 2 arcade ver.) 15. Oshaberi Paroidius ~ Forever with me (Saturn / enhanced port of SFC ver) 16. Sexy Parodius (Saturn / arcade perfect port) Stuff: Gpara Magazine Vol. 5 (includes 15m documentary w/video footage of every Gradius game & commentary) Flash Saturn Vol. 4 (includes demo version of Gradius Deluxe Pack) Still missing apart from merchandise & soundtracks (which I intend not to collect as it's an endless list): * Home computer ports / original games (MSX/PC-88;98/X68k) * Gradius ArchiMENdes Version (Famicom) * Nemesis 2 (GB) * Salamander (PCE) * Parodius (PCE) * all three Parodius games for SFC * Parodius (GB) * rereleases of Gradius Gaiden & all PSX versions of the Saturn games Gradius Neo, Neo 2 (cell phone games) and Gradius Rebirth (WiiWare) are those which I probably never have the chance / ambition to go for.
Thank you guys. I just played some Thexder and it turned out to be reeeaal nice for a 1985 Famicom-game! Only thing is.... it's hard. But the music is alright, so I'll probably stick to it. @tatsujin I will take it easy, no rush here. I really love to play the games, so I spend a fair amount of time on each new Gradius title that I receive. Another franchise that I'd love to "complete" someday is Contra, though so far I only have Hard Corps, Spirits and Super Contra. The home computer games will be the last I'm getting. With approx. 50EUR+ each they're fairly expensive and I don't see me getting an actual MSX / X86k et cetera within the next 2 years or so, simply because it's too bulky - for shipping and for my room. I have most of the MSX games ready to play on that Konami Antiques package for the Saturn, but that doesn't save me from buying the really wonderful Nemesis '90 Kai for X86k someday. One of if not the most amazing Gradius game ever! Ah, and I forgot to add Parodius (Famicom) to my missing list So far I don't bother about the arcade versions, an original Gradius 1 board looks like a time-machine (huge) and costs a fortune. :O
newz you can uze Um Jammer Lammy, Aubirdforce After (wtf, 1€), Silent Hill 2, 3 & 4, Gitaroo Man One (extented trial version that was sold for 15$), Puyo Puyo Fever, Expendable, some more Gundam, Last Hope Pink Bullets & as a freebie from the seller: a boxed DC controller. I am a fan of those wonderfully coloured Konami discs for the Saturn, but they just CAN'T compete with this Sony CD that belongs to UmJammer Lammy :O Flying Power Disc (Windjammers), Viewpoint, Metal Slug 3 w/arts, Puzzle Bobble w/crappy box for a tenner & some arcade promo stuff Mickey's Magical Tetris Challenge based on the N64 version (hence the N64 logo) & Tatsujin-Ou / Truxton II (Korean board). The developers of Last Hope, NGEV.TEAM, are living about 30km from my home. Today, I and a bunch of other people were invited for a small gaming session. "Helluva fun evening dat wuzz!!" and before leaving everyone ended up getting a free copy of Last Hope: Pink Bullets (thank you ^.^). In the picture you can see my two signed Last Hope games.^^
Oh shit :O Well, you live to learn... くそ!^^ btw: I think the Gradius II cover artwork is absolutely stunning, I just can't stop looking at it. Can anybody tell me if there is a highres version around on the net? Maybe there was an A2 arcade poster and somebody scanned it... I just need this one. Large. Hanging on the wall.
Those Last Hope copies are sweet, and with the story and the signatures, I'll bet they'll fetch a nice price ón eBay or Yahoo;-)
Dunno, it's a homebrew game after all. There are only three signed Last Hope's out there though, and only ONE signed regular edition LH. I asked them how many they've signed so far, and we (at the meet) were the first to ask for it XD Anyway, I don't intend to sell them, symbols for fond memories *_* Update Salamander & Phalanx for the Sharp X68000 (which I don't have, unfortunately :crying: ), Shooting Game Historica 3 SP, Namco Museum Boxset (incl. games laid out in the foreground, it's the rare NOMCA edition from Russia!! ^^), Silent Hill (no spine-card D + jpn Famitsu guide, Lup Salad w/spine+reg-card+stickers and Crying (asia) which looks 100% like the jpn version but says "for sale only in Asia" on the back of the box. Damn you Silent Hill. Bought it w/out spine since it was only 1500yen with this awesome guidebook, but this increases the total of my games missing the spinecard to a massive 2! ^^ Shooting Game Historica 3 gashapons along to their games. Still missing Wolf Fang SS and Kaitei Daisensou, if anyone can spare those two, let me know Get those cover artworks... :O The Phalanx manual has lots of s/w sketches in it. Very nice... Some of the GameCube games I still wanted to play but always hesitated to buy.. Screenshot: Korean PCB, cut. Someone from shmups.com wants to send me the JPN eproms so I can switch whatever version (Korean = cut - story in Englisch <-> uncut - story in Japanese) I want to play. Unfortunately the sound is noisy and at times the PCB won't boot up at all? :O This was not the case when I bought it a couple of weeks ago, any hints on what I can do to solve this problem? Finally, a picture of my restructured Otaku wall ^_^ XD (sorry, I just finished watching the Densha Otoko TV show... )
