Chase H.Q. would be an interesting one to do as well. Have you ever thought of doing an in depth talk about those games that only got 1 port. For example, games like Battle Garegga, Astra Superstars, and things of that nature? Just to see how well, or how bad some of the ports may have been. While you do a great deal of comparison for those with multi ports, but maybe trying to do those that didn't get many would be pretty interesting as well too.

    There's my 2 cents

I just picked up a copy of Alien Storm for Genesis. I wasn't even looking for that game specifically, but they just happened to have it, so I thought I should give it a try. I'm going to watch the Battle of the Ports episode first, and then I'll see how it plays.

I watched the Alien Storm episode. It was a pretty good episode. As usual, those home computer versions look pretty terrible, for the most part. I played the Genesis version after I watched the episode, and I really enjoyed it. It looks pretty good for its time, and it plays really well too. I got pretty far into the game before I finally ran out of credits. I'll definitely be coming back to it.

Yeah, Alien Storm on the Mega Drive is pretty good. I'd still like go know why the first stage is different.

Well its Saturday so its time for a new Battle of the Ports.

Finally caught up on everything during the week - really loving this series Yakumo, and am looking forward to checking out the latest once the 60fps versions hit your website!

Oh, and Virtua Racing? Another inspired choice!

I always thought that the "GET GOAL" sample at MD Virtua Racing was unnecessary... you can barely hear the melody and the crazy japanese guy shouting Get Goal with the sample quality. Weird because every other sample is crisp and audible (not perfect but still way better than the get goal sample).

I never got to play the 32X version on a real console, but i still think the MegaDrive version is one hell of job. The 32X might be the best port, but the engine sound is so annoying.

I love the PS2 version, just wish the tyre screeching noise wasn't so constant. Even if we just go left or right a bit, the damn noise shows up.

Yeah, the 32X version is probably the best version, but the Genesis/MD version is pretty impressive too. It easily beats anything Nintendo was able to do with the SuperFX. It's too bad Sega didn't make more games with the same chip.

For me as mentioned on th video, the 32x version is the best followed by the PS2 version.

The PS2 version is good except the controls feel a little twitchy to me and I don't like the shading, since it makes the colors less bright and vibrant than in the original.

Thank you for your time Yakumo

Big fan of racing games and I love Virtua racing. Never tried the PS2 yet but I have tried the Sega Saturn years ago. As much I love Sega Saturn and Dreamcast, is it a shame that never got ported on Dreamcast Version, that would be hella fun to play. I believe could have been improved much more for Sega Saturn.

Virtua Racing always remind me of Star wing on Super nintendo for some reason

Anyway I probably get one on PS2 version this friday.

If you love racing games then you'll love the next Battle of the Ports comming this Saturday.

The PS2 version of Virtua Racing is good but the twitchy controls don't help. Maybe it's better with a wheel? The 32X version is still the best in terms of playability.

Oh Right!!!!! I can't wait this Saturday... I think I already know... Sega Rally?!?

I believe the steer wheel may improved control more than controller itself. Well if I own the 32X then i would get that version aswell. Sadly It is kinda hard to find one those 32X add on these days due to disaster marketing back in the day.

As I say, I appreciate your own time making all these videos. They are enjoyable to watch.

There aren't really enough ports of Sega Rally to make a good video.

There's just as many as Virtua Racing :) or even more if you include the 3 different versions released for the saturn

    US - unfinished rush release
JPN & EU version which is finished
JPN Sega Rally PLUS - The ultimate Saturn version.

Apart from networking, did Sega Rally Plus add anything else?

I'm pretty sure Sega Rally beats Virtua Racing on the amount of ports it got. How about the two different PC releases, the very exclusive version for that videocard with saturn-controller ports on them and the standard vanilla one. And if that's not enough we still got the GBA, Ngage and PS2 ports too :)

There were two PC versions? Oh well, I didn't know that.
