I don't think the N-Gage version really belonged in that video, since it's in no way a port of the original game. Good stuff anyway.
Maybe but it is called Sega Rally Championship and does feature the same music. It's just a bad version of it to be honest.
Another great episode Yakumo! To this day, the Sega Saturn port is a masterpiece. How Sega managed to port a Model 2 game to the Saturn so brilliantly?! By the way, Sega Rally Revo / Sega Rally Online Arcade worth getting now? I'm asking because no one plays Daytona USA on PSN anymore. I don't even bother looking for online races anymore.
I went to check and you're right. Online Arcade has been delisted from both Xbox Marketplace and PSN. The thing barely stayed a year available. This the "future" they want? Digital distribution.. Sega really doesn't understand how to sign contracts, do they? Revo is the only way available, so... No.
Yeah, as mentioned, Revo is pretty bad when you think of it as a Sega Rally game but it's ok as a normal rally game. Yeah, Digital Distribution is rubbish as I've said since it started. The only way to get Sega Rally Online has now gone so the game is lost forever and once my HD crashes and if I don't make a back up then my game will be gone forever too. Digital Distribution suck ass big time and I don't care for the price point argument either.
I'm not sure if XBLA works in the same way, but I recently discovered that if you buy a game on PSN and it gets removed from the marketplace, you can still download it again. No one is able to buy it at that point, but if you've already bought it you can continue to redownload it at any time.
If that's true then at least people who had bought it still have a chance to get it back. So sad for those who didn't though.
Yakumo-sama: I loved your Sega Rally Championship BOTP :-D I can only imagine how you will review Tomb Raider 1, and well at least I can say this. The Ngage version of that game.. sorry I am dreaming a bit Anyway great show Keep up the good work !
Yakumo, any thoughts on when the the HQ versions will be uploaded for the last few episodes? Hanging out to watch them in 60fps
I'm going to upload everything apart from Sega Rally. I've also got to work on the next show but I think it's going to be a little late this week. Maybe I'll have it done for Sunday.
A little late this week due to real life being busy but it's now here, another Battle of the Ports.
Official Battle of the Ports site news - http://www.segagagadomain.com/botp/botp-menu1.htm Not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 brand new Battle of the Port videos have been added to the official site for your viewing pleasure. Check out Virtua Fighter 2, RoboCop, Midnight Resistance and Virtua Racing in glorious 720p at 60fps or 30fps from the download links or the convenient 720p 30fps YouTube stream.
gotta love chase head qaurters. It amazes me how fast you pop these out and how quality the product always is, but after years of making videos im sure your used to it
Only Arcade Chase Headquarters are fun in my opinion. I like Special Criminal Investigation on the PC Engine though, not sure about the original Arcade game and other ports. Maybe a new episode is in order for SCI?
The best home version that isn't emulation has got to be the Saturn game. It's so close to the arcade. 2nd would be the FM Towns version. Yeah, I'm cracking these videos out but it still takes at least 8 hours to do one 30 minute video. That time does also include playing the games mind you. The next video should be up on Saturday and yep, you guessed it. The game will be SCI.
Awesome stuff mate - managed to download all the 60fps versions except for Virtua Racing which I'll do tomorrow. Damn internet connection!!
