Very nice episode dude, yes the PC Engine version missed a trick, the MS version is probably the best home version IMHO. Keep'em coming!!! Had a little thought about you today, as it was Saturn day today!!! A lot of Tecnosoft stuff played obviously KOF 95 sucks on Saturn
Y's IV, crest of Wolf, Winds of Thunder and Ninja Warriors I was tempted to buy Gates of Thunder in Mandrake the other day but it cost 5600yen. Is it better than Winds of Thunder?
Winds of Thunder is hard. I'm not the best shmup player, my videos clearly show that but Winds of Thunder is almost TOO hard for me. Maybe next time I'm on JPSN I'll grab Gate and see if it's more forgiving.
You're right. I'm not too bad with 2D shooters but Winds of Thunder is really tough. I can reach the 3rd stage before taking a hit though.
Gate of Thunder is not particularly easy but it's a really nice shmup, you'd enjoy it. WoT is indeed quite difficult, I don't remember getting past 3rd level either x)
It's a tough one to answer, I'm a sucker for space based shmups so probably GoT would win over. I have both as on many levels they're both amazing. Just get GoT, you know you want to
I'll get Gate next time I have some JPSN cards. The JPSN PC Engine slection is almost worth getting an account there alone.
Shinobi for the SMS is very hard but my major complain is the ending... And the Amiga version got nice graphics, I wonder how a Mega Drive would look like if ever made...
Battle of the Ports - Strider Hiryu!
Used to play strider on the mega drive when I was a kid, Never played the arcade version looks a lot better. The Amiga and Atari ST versions look crap, I think that's down to the developer both systems can do way better than that.
The Mega Drive version of Strider is very close to the arcade machine. It was a fantastic conversation especially when you consider how early in the Mega Drive life it was made. If it had been as 16 MB cartridge I wouldn't be surprised if Sega would have kept all the speech too. Just a shame that memory was so expensive back then.
Another amazing show Yakumo! Back in the day, the MegaDrive port was already impressive and it still holds up. The Master System port on the other hand... crap. I also remember a so called "Strider II" for the Master System back in the day. Developed by Tiertex and published by US Gold, both companies you love so much. lol Anyway, all these battle of ports made me think about how much people whine about game ports these days. When i see those Amiga, Amstrad, Commodore64, ZX Spectrum and even PC ports, i remember we had a lot of imagination back then. To have a glimpse of what the arcade was, at home, was amazing enough. Now it's very difficult to look back and see how inferior those ports were.
