I'm after people's opinion on whether I should use filters for the games or keep them natural. The only problem with keeping things natural is that some systems are kind of blocky looking.
Great new episode. I had the Master System version and enjoyed playing it. It's nowhere a decent port, but was one my favourites. On the subject of filters, i think it's up to you. I do think scanlines would be ok, but those smoothing filters would hurt the comparison of the different ports.
I hear you. Scan lines would be idea but when the output resolution is changed for screen shots or lower resolution screen in screen effects, the scanlines really mess up.
Remember seeing this in the arcades back in the day, was really impressive. By the way this was also available for the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube in the Midway Arcade Treasures 3.
Yes, I know about the midway treasures releases but they are all emulated so I didn't feature them. That and I'd have to buy the PS2 version to record the footage. Not something I'd want to waste my money on. Western game collection discs don't appeal to me I'm afraid.
And it probably runs on 480i as well. Anyway, just pointed that out because you usually add that info on the video.
Good thing to point it out. I do normally put a little text about such versions but in this week's show it slipped my mind.
I will definitely be watching this tonight. I loved Alien Syndrome, but I only played and finished the NTSC NES version.
At least the NES version is better than the Master System Cheers. Working on the next one now. It's a game that I really hate the controls on
Watched the Mortal Kombat and Alien Syndrome episodes last night while exercising. I liked them a lot! I really like the format. Not too much voice-over, varying stages/parts of gameplay footage, lack of the usual overuse of expletives in video game-related videos, complete lists of ports, etc. I think I might watch through the majority of them. Sad it took me this long to finally watch one!
I watched the Pit Fighter and Mortal Kombat II episodes last night. Solid, per usual. I looked through the video list a bit but I didn't see DOOM on there. Have you even thought about covering that? There are so many ports.
Yakumo-sama: here I feared that the Amiga version of DD2 would be horrible, cause I actually had very good memories of playing that game on the Amiga: Thank goodness, the game still holds it Great show as usual
