Normally the shadow is a small square box below the plane, pretty sure it was black when i played it on a regular old snes. Mendel, did you open up your snes to be sure you had a 1-chip snes? So it's a fact that when you have a 1-chip snes you don't see the shadow of the plane in A.S.P. Air Strike Patrol? I'm going to play thru the Donuts level in super mario world to see if i get the level eplained in the first pages of this forum.
nice to know, you don't have to open your snes to conclude you have a 1-chip main board :encouragement:
Yes I know, I am just saying I have opened his console before - so I can tell you with 100% certainty its a 1chip, as the supercic mod is different on 1chip consoles.
Yes, mine is a 1-chip one. Also, here´s a quick way to find out if your pal snes is 1 chip or not, without opening the case: http://kyorune.com/modding/article.php?id=13 I have now seen the shadow btw. It blinks a little bit to become just about visible when turning the plane to the left and right while flying down. Otherwise its close enough to being invisible.
I finally got myself a 1-CHIP-01 Super Famicom console after reading for so long how they have better picture quality. I can only use S-video as I don't have an RGB compatible CRT and recently my Component modded Super Famicom's video encoder shit the bed, so I was a little skeptical as to how much of an improvement I would get. Needless to say I'm pretty impressed of the difference, I'm really happy I got a 1-CHIP I'm confident in saying it looks better than my component modded SFC. So I tried a few things I had read about, first the shadow in Air Strike Patrol is almost non existent as observed by many, second was to try Ghouls and Ghosts, from what little I played there was no issues, third was to look for the dreaded vertical bar, I've seen it before with many SNES console but not this time, and forth I tried Pocky and Rocky with no issues.
Super Ghouls N Ghosts and Pock and Rocky apparently only freak out on a 1CHIP if you are using a low quality power supply. The vertical line is there in the minis as well, I just got lucky and found one without it one time. 5 other ones I bought all had the vertical line.
I just got my US Super Nintendo and i noticed that the video quality was bit off compared to my Super Famicom, and i thought it was just my eyes and it wasn't. I just ordered Gamebit screwdrivers and it's gonna take few weeks until i get them. So here's few screenshots and a lame video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLJeQb89krs&feature=youtu.be http://imgur.com/1gn6KXT,oLpD3Da#0 http://imgur.com/9daxVWE,F0HIYmP and i was planning to get rid of the SFC and i'm glad that i haven't sold it yet, well it's a bit yellowed EDIT I wonder if it's possible to swap the motherboards between these two consoles
Does the UN602213532 have the 1CHIP or should I just leave it, I am searching for one to replace my 1990 Snes ...
I have a bootleg SNES Mini/JR that I bought from eBay circa 2004. I recall that it had noticeably sharper quality RGB than my early-mid 90's PAL SNES (not sure which revision, but I can check). It also played PAL games at full screen, 60Hz (obviously had issues with Super FX titles I tried and Mario Kart, being DSP) which is nice. Basically it behaves just like my switch-modded PAL console as if it's permanently set to 60Hz but with the added benefit of sharper RGB and also Super Mario RPG works fine My best SNES experience was playing that console on a great CRT, using genuine PAL SNES controllers in my old room at my parents house around 2006... Me and a friend would play US Mario Kart and Street Fighter 2 Turbo for ages, and I remember playing PAL Super Mario World @ 60Hz three times through to get 96* on all three save slots! I love that console despite being a knock off bootleg
Yeah sure! Unfortunately I can't at the moment as I am currently living in Spain, but due to go back to the UK very soon (next week) I can upload pics when I get back. It's definitely a bootleg! Case is of poor quality (doesn't sit perfectly flush), uses normal philips screws, labels are poor and transformer was a cheap generic one! I initially thought it was genuine, and continued to do so for a while. Here's a link with more info, the console on this page is the exact one I have. http://www.gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=counterfeit_snes
Your the guy I messaged on Youtube aren't you. Your video shows the internals of the clone starting at 8:27. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jF29qtovjlE
No that isn't me! Would be interesting to see how the switch is wire up in his clone though, so I could add one to mine. My console doesn't have one, it's always in 60Hz.
I potentially have a SNS-CPU-1CHIP-03 coming in the mail atm. Its serial is un321803847. I well post if it is when I get it. I just hope it wasn't a case swap.
I tried comparing my PAL SNSP-CPU-1CHIP-01 to my PAL SNSP-CPU-02. I did my best, but on my JVC AV-29FT1 50Hz CRT TV I can only conclude so far the differences in picture quality are minimal. The colors seem slightly brighter and the vertical bar, which I already find pretty unnoticable in my SNSP-CPU-02, is slightly less noticable. I really want to understand this all and see it with my own eyes, so if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears Or perhaps the question would be, is the difference between the PAL revisions as great as with the NTSC revisions? Not sure if I've read that somewhere already... In any case, I tried making some photos: http://s1293.photobucket.com/user/Shadow_Zero80/library/PAL SNES SNSP-CPU-1CHIP-01 vs SNSP-CPU-02
I’ve got a switchless modded 1CHIP where Super Ghouls N Ghosts has sprite corruption all over the place. Tried the Japanese and US version. Could this stem from a bad power supply? Would be awesome if I can find out the cause! /Edit: Whoah, I tried a different PSU and Super Ghouls N Ghosts is not glitching any more. Awesome, would’ve never guessed that the PSU is at fault!
This is quite interesting, I never got around to trying it myself, in fact I totally forgot. I wonder why though, what needs to have full power to run in those carts.
