I guess I made a good face when I found it hah. Like I said, I just figured it was a green dreamcast controller, or maybe a controller S. There is a former MS employee around these parts, but I havent been able to call him out thus far.
What continues to surprise me is not that people sell this stuff not thinking that it might be worth something but more that we find it with el-cheapo price tags. Like my $5 Alamo. That thrift store had a Pioneer Laseractive with SEGA PAC for a bit over $200 so I know they're not completely ignorant. OTOH they had a boxed game with an eBay printout clearly showing a Buy it Now price over their asking price as some sort of justification. But of course they taped the paper directly to the box with scotch tape.
Well to be fair not that many collectors even know about the Alamo controller. When you Google it the only good results are your old thread and Hex's Facebook for his Wiki. lol
I suppose that's true, at least my thread is a top result for information rather than buried. One of these days I'll get around to making a breakaway cable for it. And one of these days I'll actually splurge on a crystal XDK, Dakota, and a few other items.
Bad quality picture, but I managed to find this at the same game store as the duke: Halo display case that was (rumored to be) recalled due to MS shipping it before it had an official rating. Just has a standard Halo disk, but I dont think it shipped with Halo in it, thus the display part hah. Relatively desirable in the Halo world, so I popped it into a protective case too until I figure out what to do with it.
Borman, you should go undercover, work at that game store, and find out who this person who keeps dropping off this good stuff is.
Well Ive known there was a Microsoft Employee in the area, due to a handful of games with the sticker on it, but I didnt realize how much they had hah.
wow was just looking at your xbox collection and noticed the ORANGE one... is this an aftermarket job or the real thing, didnt think they did them in that colour
Its my old modded box, need to fix it up at some point. A rare PS2 pickup. Can tell it had other stickers on it at one point, but could have been just price stickers (why remove the rest and leave the good one )
Oddly enough, the M rated display case is a lot more rare. I have three rated Teen, have seen several others for sale, but have only seen a single Mature copy hit eBay.
Had some time to take some pictures yesterday (really, I had to for a project, go figure). Don't quite have a setup that can get rid of shadows and unwanted glare, but they are better than I had taken before hah.
Sadly there does come a point where having more money does actually help hah. The lights Im using could be bought at any home improvement store, and the white is just an old poster from last year's game preservation presentation hah. It works for the time being though
You use what you can. I'm doing the same at the moment. If I had an income I'd take much better photos than what I use now. Everything is limited for me at the moment, along with even buying more XBOX stuff
Hah too bad it's a poor angle, otherwise you'd see there are two in there. Same here. I managed to pick up three games for 3 bucks each the other day at Goodwill, have to clean the stickers off the cases though. Been slow going.
Yeah, pretty slow at the moment. It seems people are overcharging here for XBOX stuff at the moment... Still haven't given up on searching though. Still many games for me to get you know, I still can't find Burnout black label easily...
