Im in no rush really, people come and go all the time, gotta keep with it and wait it out. There are very few items that are truly unique in the Xbox world.
A graduate level project where I got to pick any object that I wanted to research. XBC is XBCentral, the website that Ill launch at some point for all things (original) Xbox.
A project where you researched the original Xbox? That sounds pretty exciting, best project ever. lol I will still be waiting on when you finally launch that website. =)
Hah yeah. My issue is doing it right, which means digging through tons of press releases and other material that may or may not actually exist on the web at this point.
Well depending on what kind of information your looking for, old magazines can be a good source of information. Although with that route you would actually have to go out and find/buy the magazine as most are not on the internet.
Or ask around for help on these lovely forums I'm sure there a plenty of members who have large collections of magazines and may be willing to check a few for xbox ads
The issue with magazines is that they very rarely have anything all that unique to comment on, a lot worked off the press releases. Actually, Microsoft has done a good job of archiving most of their press releases, but the content that comes with them (pictures and such) can be more difficult to find in their original quality. Xbox camera watches you sleep
Some magazines had exclusive stuff in them even though everything still came from Microsoft I suppose. And joke is on that camera, I sleep in front of my computer. It is looking out my window. Ahahahahaha!
Yeah, and even then you're stuck with small grainy images. Even stuff like the Xbox Communicator, I would imagine that there are better sources, it's just a matter of finding them.
Well, aspect had found articles with stock images of that communicator but those articles were from later on and it was not called the "Game Commander" anymore it was just given a generic name. So even though there was just a small grainy image one got the original name of it. One could probably look in other magazines around that time that might have more information but that would probably involve some luck.
I still need that DOAU console. =( And did anyone ask why you chose the original Xbox for your project? I assume if you needed pictures you had to do some sort of presentation on your research?
Nope, no one asked, other people had strange things to research too No presentation, we just have to find unique ways of displaying the information (which has to come from multiple types of sources, video, text, etc)
Hah exactly This project is good motivation for actually getting XBCentral that much closer to a launch.
Is the project over already or is it still ongoing? Maybe getting the website up could be part of it? I'm sure you thought of that already though. I don't know how much work it would take to finish.
