Just got this in the mail (Ebay picture until I have some time to setup the photobooth hah) It runs regular retail software. I dont know what purpose it had specifically, but it was certainly used by either a Microsoft employee, or by a reviewer at the least (Id wager Microsoft due to coming from WA ). It had stub saves (doesnt look like it actually saved, just the title, if that makes sense) for both Dinosaur Hunting and the Red Star, both of which are known to have gotten to the review stage.
Hi there. I recently won an Xbox with an MS ASSET sticker on it and wondered if you could shed any light on it. The above machine has that live enabled sticker and the prototype sticker but mine is missing both, if it ever had them. Are you aware of machines with no stickers present on the bottom at all? Will post a date code in a bit. Thanks in advance. EDIT: Code is 2002-10-10, doesn't seem anything out of the ordinary.
It's one of those things where no matter what, we'll be making assumptions about it. Does it look like there were ever stickers on it? In that case, then it might have been removed. It still could have been used for testing something, as it isn't unheard of to have a prototype without stickers although Microsoft seems to be fairly good about including them. Or, it could simply be a standard retail Xbox that Microsoft used. Are there any saves on it to indicate that it was used for anything?
Nah, just the games that came with the bundle. Operationally it appears to be no different to a retail machine - so it may be just that. However, it came with 2 S pads so either this machine was owned 2nd hand who I got it off or.. I don't really know what else. It doesn't look as if there were stickers there no.
It's a tough one really when you don't have anything to go off of. I wouldnt want to make a call either way though. More pictures of the Live Enabled box:
It's only going to get nicer from here with my cheap lighting hah. Im testing video, but the bitrate isn't high enough so Im going to have to upgrade on that front. It's a learning process like anything though
Today's awesome pickup: Has an Xbox and some games. Would have been like 30 games but a bunch got stolen from the guy at some point. Got a little damp on the way home but what can you do?
Very nice! I really want of those but they are always too far away. =( And how are you going to get that in your apartment?
We're strong people hah. For now, itll sit at my parents house though since it was raining. Didnt want to have anyone drive it in the weather. It's a lot heavier than I imagined, even with the TV missing.
Did the TV come with it? I would hope it did since it is a Microsoft brand TV. Did the console that came with it have the special sticker on it?
Nope and nope, sadly. I think the TV was a rebranded TV though, so Im not terribly worried about it. The console that came with it is a Gamestop refurb, and since the unit was from Gamestop I got the impression that the original kiosk unit died hah
Well, I got a kiosk Xbox console. lol Here is a picture of the sticker on the top if you want to make one. =)
This is insanely cool. I'd love to have one of those (but I don't have the space) even if it's just for decoration. It's a shame that it got wet. It's an even better price if it still had a console inside. Sometimes I wish I was in the US were this stuff seems to pop up way more often
