I have an Ebay auction saved of an original Launch Team Xbox that was sold by the employee that got it and the auction had a Xbox Live controller as well and that is where the "given to Xbox Live Launch Team members" comes from for me at least.

Did you know that the original Xbox was to have a "Games" tab on the dashboard? (It can be seen in some concept images for the dashboard, but here it is). Now go buy some games!

 

hmmm, strange that they dropped that feature. They ended up putting it on the 360, and its actually mandatory to install the game on the xbone.

Do any of you guys have any new information on the Orange XBOX console? Hex1gon posted pictures of that one on his XBOX archives for me but so far there are no responses from anyone.

 

In all likelihood, assuming it is real which it looks to be, then it was a test of the color.

 

At my office I have the guys name who ran the plastics plant in NY I think, he's hard to get a hold of.

Nope, but to be fair the other colors known to exist (as controllers) all came out as consoles as well. Orange was the strange case. Im sure MS tested various things along the way, but the evidence of most of that is likely long gone.

Probably the reason why the tab was dropped the XBOX didn't have much space on it at all, and wasn't very expandable either.

 

Are there high quality pics of the color test Xboxes? I've never seen or heard of these.

One of the disappointments of my XBOX hunts is I stumbled upon a black XBOX. When I flipped it over I noticed the sticker said PROTOTYPE instead of XBOX Video Game System. I was so excited that when I went home to check it out. When I booted it up, the main screen was the XMBC dash, not the XDK one. And it was all in Korean so I switched to English. But it was still glitchy with the language settings. So I opened up the system and I noticed that the mother board did not have that sticker on it that is suppose to indicate it is a prototype. Also the Vidia chip is MCPX3 instead of MCPX2. And the hard drive is a 10GB version instead of the 8GB that everyone else has. So I believe someone gutted the motherboard and the hard drive and all I have is the shell with the sticker that says PROTOTYPE. Even the outer decal XB configuration sticker was taken off. Is this a problem that any of you guys have run into?
