Ive had debug kits with XBMC on them, doesnt mean a thing. Prototype doesnt necessarily mean a development console. 10GB HDDs were also in retail kits, so not unusual. Not enough info and having not seen it myself in its original condition, I dont know.
I see Borman, but I noticed there is sticker residue on the outer shell of the XBOX where those original decals were. Shouldn't there be a matching sticker on the motherboard as well? I do not see any trace that there was a sticker on the board.
Not necessarily, no. With prototypes, whatever you think may have happened could be totally wrong, which is why I dislike assumptions. There can still be stickers removed, but whose to say Microsoft didnt do it themselves? Lots of unknowns
My XBL beta xdk is in a prototype shell with mcpx3 chip as well. Sounds like a shell swap or someone jacked a kit up.
I found this information on another forum. Since mine does not have XDK, do you think mine would be a final retail prototype? I actually watched your youtube video XBoxSurgeon and this one definitely does not have anything like yours except that Prototype sticker on the bottom of the console. There was at least 7 hardware revisions of the Xbox hardware when I worked at MS. This is probably a retail final prototype box. One way to test it quickly is to put in a retail game if it plays then it has retail firmware installed. If not then it has the DEV XDK firmware installed. Samsung DVD Drives replaced the Thompson DVD drives as the Thompson drives would fail.
Check the motherboard, see if it has "Microsoft" printed on it, if it does I don't believe its a prototype.
That XBOX Live Starter Kit is really awesome. I remember not too long ago one was on ebay with a buy it now price of a couple thousand dollars. Had to pass on that one unfortunately. By the way Borman, do you have the XBOX One white launch team console?
Totally understandable. Do you happen to have any of the competition original XBOX consoles like the Conker or Tony Hawk ones? There were several types but they all look like they were spray painted professionally. I do not know if any of those were made at a Microsoft plant.
Na, none of those either, I dont think they are entirely important. There could be limitless amount of them out there really. I know some people here have some. Most of my collection is heavy on the development side. Ive been filling in the retail stuff as I go along lately.
It also detects your heart beat and faces you make, and neatly packages that for M$'s marketing and the National Security Agency (even if you live outside the US). The only part that might be a stretch is M$ checking for your responses to ads. The rest I can prove.
Hey Borman, Can you tell me something about this press kit from Japan(XBOX LIVE ONE SUMMER 2004)?. I just picked it up but I do not know how these were handed out. I have seen the demo disc being sold seperately. Ebay has them at the moment but without the case and pamphlet. Here is the link to the one I have and it is complete with the booklet: http://www.bing.com/images/search?q...F7115BA32E90AD6ED66E3545E1E58&selectedIndex=0
The DVD on it's own is common, it complete with the rest no. Possibly like the summer 2002 disc, it might just of been given to those who bought XBOX Live. I don't think it's a press kit. I could be wrong though, but there's many of those DVDs with trailers on them.
