GodOfHardcore, you just got served. Ps2 > 360 when it comes to shoot'em ups. ESPECIALLY since his is Japanese.

BUT the quality of the games aren't as good as they are on the PS2 I don't think.

    Somebody just lock this already.

So I can play Lost Odyssey A GAME THAT WILL NEVER EVER BE ON PS3

The quality of the games is only affected if you play on a HDTV. I use a old Standard def. TV and the games picture is no different than if I played them on a PS2 console. I compared the two and they were exactly the same.

Now, I am done argueing about this so im going to boot up some ESPgaulda on my PS3 <3

This is absolutely insane. Do you post in a schizophrenic manner, like Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde or something?

Didn't Fable bomb at retail? Is it that much of a driver for sales? I don't think so. Gears of War 2 is the only big exclusive game for the XB360 in the near future as far as I can tell.

What does that matter? Sony are driving sales with price cuts, which is exactly the tactic they intended. They are being aggressive in hardware redesigns to cut costs.

XB360 has lost Japan. I'd agree with Europe and the US being open though. A few RPGs aren't going to save the XB360 now.

My point here is that mass adoption is being held back by price and games. The big titles are not out yet. Once MGS4, GT5 and GTA4 hit the streets, PS3 sales are going to accelerate. The XBox360 has the exclusive episodes, but is that enough to push people to buy one? If it wasn't for hardware failure issues then MS would have wiped the floor with Sony, but this year is going to see a huge change.

What is the most popular activity online right now (aside from Porn)? Facebook and Myspace. The casual audience, as much as I hate that definition, is going to be drawn big time to Home. What does PSN really lack for gamers? A decent integrated lobby system. That is the only thing. Home serves as a boost for both areas.

Says who? Retail doesn't work that way. Hype is building with the HD war coverage on the news and the adoption of HD TVs. Once there is a single HD format, sales in HD will increase and the PS3 will be the player of choice until BD Players drop to budget prices.

I haven't read of cancelled games, I've read of exclusives turning multi-format - a lot actually. However, that was soon after launch. With costs of development, it doesn't surprise me. In a year, it won't be an issue any longer I'd expect.

Absolutely. But my point there is that when PS3 used to be the poor relation for ports compared to the XB360, now the lead platform has switched it is no longer the case. So comparing both versions of the games is no longer in the favour of the XB360, which makes for one reason less to pick one.

If that was the case all games would be Wii-bound.

In what sense? Simple menus? The majority of Home can be accessed using the virtual PSP menu function. I get your point and it is true to an extent, but there is a slipstream aspect to Home which you overlooked.

At the moment they have a better service. In a year that could be quite different.

MS had a year over Sony and their platform was mature. Now the PS3 is maturing. It's not going to be as cut and dry as last year. I would wager money that this year will be a very strong year for Sony. The PS3 has more big name games coming out this year than the XB360, and they are long term huge franchises.

Halo is a dead franchise now, Halo Wars won't live up to the trilogy at all. Ninja Gaiden 2 is not a big name for average gamers, nor is Fable 2.

What do MS have to pull out of the hat? Something from Rare? Bleh. Rare disappointed everyone with their launch stuff. Killer Instinct 3 would be a joke, a poor game at the time only impressive because it was running on the SNES. Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat were far superior titles. Gears is the only big name left. Something amazing and new could be shown at GDC, but GDC is not traditionally a showcase venue for the year. E3 is, and a lot will hinge on this for both companies.

At what cost? MS don't own an interest in the technology, and implementing it as a software developer is going to be prohibitively expensive. I wouldn't place my hopes in that.

My little brother has a 40 gig PS3. I tried one of my PSX games on it(gekioh: shooting king) and it worked! SO I can confirm that the 40 gig unit DOES play PS1...but just not Ps2. :)

yes, the 40 gig ps3 can still play the ps1 games. It is just using software emulation for them.

I've heard that they can, I dunno how true that is though. Maybe people weren't burning them right or something.

You are right. Every single DC I have seen has a true backdoor in the BIOS. It was left there on purpose by someone, that's for sure. I have always wondered why they didn't remove it. They probably had a reason for it - let's hope it was a good one.... The way you trigger the backdoor in later models is a little different though (a CDDA track will not work).

I guess they knew that piracy was a contributing factor to the PS1's success ;) it was THE reason to get a PSX over other consoles in Greece and a few other countries i went around at the time.

    What?

    Told ya...

I'll think that MS should've bought SEGA back in fall 2000, and use the Dreamcast as their console instead of making the Xbox.

After all it already had a considerable user base and was selling well. Xbox on the other hand had a sluggish start and at the end costed MS 4 billion, almost twice the price of SEGA as a whole.

Nope, it was SEGA's desperation to bring the MSRP down in order to compete what killed it, since suddently they went from selling with a little profit to virtually paying people (subsidize) to get the DC.

    Talk about fanboy rant:rolleyes:

The bottom line (for me) is this. If a console has a game I want to play I'll buy it.

I bought an Xbox for Halo:CE. For the longest time that's all I played no other games interested me. Later on though some awesome games came out.

I didn't buy a PS2 until about 2 Summers ago and I bought it for Guitar Hero. Nothing on the system interested me that wasn't on the Xbox. But through owning a PS2 I was introduced to a ton of awesome games. God of War, SotC, cool RPGs and such.

I got a 360 for Gears, PGR3, and eventually Halo 3. These are just a few examples. I buy a console for the games. If there weren't an good games for the 360, I wouldn't buy it. Right now, the PS3 doesn't have any games I want to play.

I could care less who wins. I'll play any console it doesn't matter to me. You'll see me playing the best games regardless of the system it's on.

Yeah, we're not cool to have clouded judgement.

Like Graciano, I play games that are fun. Not what brand it is about. Which is why I shake my head in disgust everytime you diss nintendo, just because it's nintendo.

Brand loyalty is nothing. Pack your things, you're fired...

 I thought you were 26, but I guess I was wrong.

Look, we're all gamers here, gamers that are hardcore and nerdy enough to have found this place to begin with and you thought we were cool? We are, just by being here, the anti-cool.
