Yes, but the CPU is inferior. I think the PS3 is technically more powerful overall, but nobody is using it to its full potential.

 

Yes I knew that, and also heard some dev saying that with some clever coding they could be able to offload some GPU stuff into the SPEs.

Dunno if its really possible...

 

The 360 will have a good library of games, regardless of a "wall" and that's something of a selling point. Were it more stable, many more people would have confidently invested in a 360 (i know at least 4!)

The ps3's supposed amazing graphics is something that I ll wait before I accept blindly. Let's not forget how the PS2's processor is indeed superior to the XBOX's and GC's yet I don't recall the graphics ever hitting any special highlights that weren't present on the other platforms.

 

Who gives a fuck which system beats who? I'm pretty sure most of us have one or two of the systems, and i'm pretty sure the majority of people have more on 360. PS3 just needs more reasons to play it, but I have to say, it does piss me off it sells because it can play movies, which harkens back to DC vs PS2. Who gives a fuck about games when your machine can play movies??

I want a PS3 eventually, but it will piss me off if it beats 360 anytime soon, mostly because my fucking friends who play 0 games but just bitch about how PS is superior won't shut the fuck up about it.

Anyways is it me or do alot of textures in PS3 games seem unfinished? Like in Uncharted and Rachet they seem unfinished. Well animated but unfinished.

As for the Cell Chip being more powerful than the 360's processor. In theory yes but figuring it out is another thing all together.

And ok I stand corrected on GTAIV BUT 360 still has the exclusive content.

Also I think the 360 is actually starting to turn a profit for Microsoft.

I think in just about any game you could find shoddy textures. Uncharted and Ratchet Im sure have some, but its no worse then any other game out there.

I wouldnt be able to judge the validity of that article without a balance sheet of sorts etc or some form of final accounts. Also note that it's "the division" making a profit (which includes assets and liabilities that can be shifted to make it look like its profitable), not that "the xbox made a profit".

Actually, analysts are not a bunch of idiots. They get paid handsomely to provide investment advice to investors and stake/shareholders, and are auditted and scrutinised more than most of us. All of their work must be verifiable, and defensible.

If only some of your research (reference the UPS guy / PS3 failure rate thread and numerous quotes in this thread) had the same sort of rigor.

Seriously, look at more games. The games that force you to install are to cover for laziness. Not every company will put in the same work that the ones making a ps3 exclusive are. Imagine how bad the DMC load times would be without the install.

The 30 minute install by DMC4 is hardly the norm, and is just grabbed on as a reason to hate a great console. It's hardly like having 3 xbox 360's die in a year...I'd know. Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank, and Uncharted are all great looking games, yet Heavenly Sword and R&C require a small probably 4 minute install and Uncharted requires no install at all. Then you have a multiplatform game like Burnout Paradise, which was developed on the ps3, that has no loading at all during the whole time you actually play the game...also without a forced install. Oblivion also had a short install. The companies using horribly long forced installations are just lazy, and don't have a grasp on the console.

I agree that if you wanted more PS3 games, HDD space should be the last reason to not get them. Even with games that don't install, the game files do get large. I got a 120 gig HDD for cheap off ebay, and anyone can upgrade the ps3 HDD.

Well Consoles are NOT PCs......does sony know this? obviously not. I wouldn't know about the DMC load times because ya know...when I eventually get it it'll be on 360...

Now I know I'm a little biased. But at least i'm not outright bashing the PS3 like I did when I first came here.

The thing is, you only have to look at sales figures to see the turning of the tide. While the XBox360 seems to be reaching a plateau with sales, the PS3 is gaining momentum. In Europe the predictions are that the PS3 will surpass the XB360 no only in sales, but in established units. Japan is a joke in comparisons too. The last stand is the US.

Consider now that GT5 is on the way, GTA4 will be out and MGS4. Add to this new things like HOME, which will turn heads, Blu-ray has won the HD disc war and reliability is not an issue with PS3 units like it is on the XB360 and it looks rosy.

The exclusives being groomed by Sony are starting to hit the shelves. The majority of third party games are on both systems with few unavailable on the PS3. Also more third party devs are picking the PS3 as the lead platform because porting from the PS3 to the XB360 is much easier than the inverse. So the difference between the two, which has been the XB360's main strength, will be gone. What does that leave? XBLive I guess, but HOME is going to make it look rather dated.

I think the biggest change Sony made for the better was the reshuffle of management. We won't see the same cock-ups next generation.

Consider the time differences in release and that the PS3 has cost a lot more than the XB360 for the entire time it has been out.
