These keep looking better and better. I'll probably order one in the next week or so for my new TED 1.1 board. Price is maybe a bit steeper than I would ideally want, but I can definitely support the time put into designing these. Can someone tell me the proper dimensions for a label for the cover? Also do these fit smoothly in the standard PC Engine consoles without being too tight?
The label area for the low profile version is 46mm x 32mm with 0.5mm radius corners. Classic style shell is 38mm x 30.75mm with 1.5mm radius corners. Either shells do no affect fitment onto the console.
@buffalowing i see i could order shell in white and few other colors .. any way i could get it in black ?
Shapeways does not offer black as an option when the material is "polished" after printing. From what I understand, the color black is difficult to dye evenly when the plastic is polished, since it is no longer as porous. I'm aware other print services do offer black when polished, but those services also typically charge more. Shapeways do offer black when the part is not polished, but unpolished part do not look as good. If you absolutely need black, your best bet is to spray automotive vinyl dye which chemically bonds the polished plastic much better than the pigment dye Shapeways uses.
I went with the white one since it was the only color I liked from the available selection...and also I'm cheap. I haven't glued it to the board yet. I may do that this weekend. Superb design, Buffalowing! Thanks again!
Does anyone know is a Turbo Express compatible shell is offered? I don't own a dremel and would probably F it up.
Could you take a picture with the PCB inserted and the power switch on? The area that duo_R is referring to are now notched on the revised shells. But I don't own a Turbo Express so I don't know for sure.
Not at the moment. I think I took the quote out of context since I can't find a comment saying the shell didn't fit in a Express. Turbokon has my Turbo Expresses and I'm waiting for my Everdrive to arrive. I was just checking to see. Thanks for responding so quickly! The Everdrive will be used in a Turbo Express & Duo R.
Could you confirm the shell you purchased fit fine on Turbo Express? Could you take a picture with the power switch on for me?
Turbokon still has them but I will when I get them back! If I didn't have my Duo-R I'd be going nuts Everything is on schedule afaik so it should be a couple weeks or so.
I'd love to get the custom shell, but it's a little too much for me at the moment. Petty i know, but it happens. I love my Duo-R.
Fits perfectly! There's a tiny gap between the cover and Express so it's not overly snug! Thank you again BuffaloWing!!!
