Moderating is a taxing and unrewarding job.

If they see stuff that isn't kosher, they delete it.

If people have problems , they pm or make a thread.

Nothing new , same old; it's been ten years of people
asking the same question and I expect threads like this
    every few months.

...and they will continue because of that lack of communication. i got mighty mad about the lack of respect before. ive come to understand the nature of such things. so im trying to move past that but not everyone is moving in that direction.

lets hope communication and respect comes to more

You people do realize that when you post on forums you agree that your content will be moderated, may be edited or deleted at any time with or without a reason. If there are no rules against particular content, it doesn't mean it's alright to post it.

Admins/Mods decide what goes on in this website, not the members.

If you don't agree to this... why are you even on the internet?

In addition, if there is mature content on this site in public view without warnings... ASSEMbler could be subject to legal action should a parent take it.

I never said they would win. But they can do it if they please. And a rank parent throwing a nanna over exposing their child to porn is the last thing you want.

    You're welcome :)

Sure... but you'd be mentally insane to even hear a fish talk in the first place.

As long as you got $$$ you can sue for whatever you please. But now you're just going overboard. Atleast here you a required to provide warnings for 18+ content on websites, maybe it's different in America...

    non enforcable everywheres.

my point is dont make up things. the thread is about post deleting with no feedback.

we can go the route of lying pigs and talking fish and suing parents if you so desire. its just not a credible event

i agree we shouldnt have porn on the site. but nothing yet posted has been that

Indeed, and as I said before they can and will delete stuff without providing a reason to the post owner. The are also not required to do that. When I have to deleted posts(on other forums), I don't send a PM every time... and if I do it's usually because your going to get warning or a ban.

I don't know how much they have to moderate here, but it is a tedious job and the only rewards are complaints. I wonder how many times Assem or the mods have been thanked for their time and effort looking over content.

I have seen links to pornographic images in some posts.

I think what this boils down to is what people posting perceive as the rules.

One would think you could post about anything in the forum OFF TOPIC, because it's, well, off topic.

The same goes for me. Before I posted the non-porographic pictures in the GAME GIRLS thread, I check the rules to see if I was violating any of them. And according to the posted rules I was not. That's why I was surprised when the thread was deleted.

Maybe there needs to be an update to the rules. Maybe "No sexually suggestive pictures or pornography" should be added.

Now, I've never moderated a forum, but I do run a company; and my company has rules and guidelines that I try to follow as closely as I can. I try not to make stuff up as I go or be make decisions on purely my feelings.

Part of the problem overall is that on the internet both posters and mods operate anonymously, so they are more prone to acting on their own whims. And just from experience, if you don't tell people what they've done wrong, they'll just continue to do it over and over again making more work for mods and more frustrated posters.

Leisure Suit Larry: MCL and Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball just became forbidden topics and anyone posting an image that is copyrighted should remove it...which is probably the vast majority of the images here that don't start with DCIM or HPIM as their file names.

To #3, this place probably is for the exact reasons that 1UP, Kotaku and GameFAQs are. People are at work to do work, if this website is part of your work then I'm sure your IT guys will be happy to unblock it for you.

It's still perfectly acceptable to discuss the violent aspects of video games if minors are around I take it?

Obviously this isn't my site and none of this is my choice. I enjoy posting here for the like minded conversations as well as the fact I can issue the occasional "fuck" without being reprimanded in a way that makes Office Space look like a lemonade stand. I don't expect to be able to post hardcore porn that would make Ron Jeremy blush. I don't expect to be able to make racist diatribes.

What I don't post here for is the "please think of the children!" mindset so many people are going for these days. I did donate to keep this place running, I don't wish to regret my decision.

I can see ASSEMbler's view on the matter, but really seeing a woman in a bikini isn't bad. If you go to a beach parents should blindfold their children! Yes women are not objects for entertainment, but JAV and GRAV models know what they're getting themselves into. Besides, the purpose of ASSEMbler games is about games not women, of course we can discuss or have a laugh about it, but if you want naked women there are plenty of forums that support that.

A heavily moderated forums isn't a fun place for discussion, but having said that going over the top like many forums with warning systems, card systems and what not are fail...mega fail. Be thankful ASSEMbler hasn't chosen that road!

Respect ASSEMbler's site as it is his, and he is allowed to change the rules when ever he is using hard earned dollars to support an area for us to voice our opinions on games and share rare content of games.

    @APE
You have a point on #3, my current UNI/TAFE actually have blocked all sites with the keyword GAMES. I'm doing a 3D/Game development course and we cannot research. I have to dig around the net filter just to read the boards here. If this site is blocked, it's blocked because of the game content. Images that roughly mention women will not be blocked as the images are from a 3rd party link, and the images will only be blocked not ASSEMbler games.

Some sites are blocked on the basis that their content contains links to sites that they do not approve.
