I didn't mention anything you said at all. :)

I think that there are two distinct types of FPS fans, and that this game caters to the type that has been neglected since HL2: EP2 came out.

Yet we were not waiting 14 years for another descent game.

Duke is a more significant franchise.

Therefore my argument holds more water than you let on.

It's like arguing that the film "the abyss" was not the first with cgi/people interaction because some short movie presented at a film festival did it the year before.

Right, but we all remember the abyss... So it matters more.

This place is getting so unwelcoming.
    Bleh.

No recourse, just "you are wrong/dumb/etc"

young-lings either die or survive in the brutal world of AG. If you're wrong about something be prepared to feel bad about it, this is a place to check your facts before posting, no offence

I didn't call you dumb, and I don't think you are. I said you were wrong, which you were. Don't take it personally, hell I'm wrong all the time and fully expect people to call me on it. Getting to the truth of the matter is kind of what a discussion forum is all about.

    ^Indeed.

The first and last time I took something Alchy said personally was due mainly because I was wrong about a point.

We're not so much unwelcoming just knowledgeable about a lot of topics and perhaps in need of lessons on being more "tactful". While I don't think a single one of us expects anyone to come here with a knowledge base of all the obscure crap we know I personally have come to expect anything said that can be ridiculously easily looked up to be confirmed ahead of time unless that person wants to be corrected. Particularly when it's something as apparent as 1996 featuring the first 3D game.

Even 15 years ago this sort of information would've been a huge PITA to look up, now Wikipedia has a massive database on just about any topic you want. When I was a kid you always knew some smartass who'd claim something so outlandish about video games but you knew you couldn't shoot him down 100%. Today? I can watch entire play throughs of games on YouTube.

ZOMG Missingno is a Nido God and will be the next legendary Pokemon!111 etc.

I could do with being more tactful, it's true. I'll try and take that on board.

From what I've played over the past few days the games not half bad. I find it pretty fun and some of the quotes Duke says are actually funny, found myself laughing quite a few times! On the other hand this game really has an overall feel of a game that would have come out when the Xbox 360 had all those launch games with bad graphics and physics. I know graphics aren't everything and I have took that in to consideration when playing. I'll let you know how I feel about the game when I've completed it which should be pretty soon judging from where the story is heading.

I wasn't interested in this game because Duke Nukem 3D never really interested me. I think I played it for like 5 minutes once, and my reaction was, "yawn... boring Doom clone." I actually did kinda like Duke Nukem: Time to Kill for Playstation. That was many moons ago, so I've no idea if I'd still like it.

Duke is Duke, I waited for it a long time and somehow it sets me back to my youth years. I still love it, even if the graphics and motion capturing are not that great, but who cares. I finally got it and I am happy to see my favorite douche hero back in action :D

Well, here's hoping that the game will be somewhat profitable for Gearbox that they'll greenlight the next game. Hopefully a Duke game built from the ground up by those guys will be more polished. Fingers crossed it comes out in another 2 maybe 3 years instead of another decade.

By the way, is there some relationship between DNF and Prey?

In terms of the overall universe? Not that anyone has stated.

Since Prey belongs to Human Head now, I doubt there ever will be.

Well it is running on Unreal 2.5 so *shrug*
    [IMG]

I personally like the graphics. They were very nice in the PC Demo. My only issues are aliasing(which will obviously be solved) and the Depth of Field (which looks kind of weird).
Some textures could be higher res , but overall I think it's great.

Well I can't get the bastard thing to run. I click new game and then it sits on the loading screen.

Kicks back an error saying something to do with bump mapping. Tried everything, new GFX drivers, Direct X, Visual C distros, re-installing. Playing with minimal effects.

    Fuck it.

If I'm not mistaken, George Broussard said in an interview that the team had basically rewritten the entire engine, the only thing left from the original was the network code.
