I wonder why I always thought it was the guy from Evil Dead? Did he voice another gaming hero?

The only game I can think of with Campbell's voice was some mediocre late 90s Wing Commander-style space shooter where he voiced the main character. (other than most likely the Evil Dead games on PS2)

"Hail to the King, Baby" and "Groovy" are used pretty often by Duke, the inspiration being taken from Bruce Campbell's character in Evil Dead, Ashley Williams.

I know a good racing game when I see one and the controls, on the PC at least with a 360 pad, were too touchy, the vehicle didn't have any weight to it.

I'm a big Forza/GT/etc fan by the way, so I think it's a qualified opinion even if you disagree:p

Bruce Campbell also did the voice over for the intro of the spiderman game released for PS1 and dreamcast.

I think Campbell also did the Spiderman 3 game tutorial. Fun game actually.

He did the narrative for the movie version game based on spider man1

    Shoot was beaten to it.

Btw, check out Bruce campbell's book.
It's just a great entertaining read 100% through.

Got my Balls of Steel Edition. It's a pretty good special edition if I do say so myself. The Duke bust looks great on my shelf. And I love the dice with the nuclear symbol on the side. It's gonna be a few days before I can play the game though.

I just can't believe I have a copy of Duke Nukem Forever. haha

No, that was Stan Lee in PS1 Spider-Man games, and since the Dreamcast version was just a port, he must have done that one too. I'm not sure about the first game on the PS2, but I remember Bruce Campbell did the PS2 Spider-Man 2 though.

And there was also an Evil Dead game on PS1 by the way (Hail to the King), so he obviously did that too

He was the narrator for part of the first Spider-Man movie game, and I've never played the second one so I wouldn't know. It wasn't just on PS2, but also Xbox, Gamecube, and PC. It was actually a pretty good game, considering it was based on a movie.

He also did the 3d pitfall for psx

As for the shitty reviews, i say at least give duke a shot. Hell, everyone said that the splatterhouse remake sucked and that was pretty decent...

Well, I've gave this back to my mate. The queen alien just pissed me off. Killed it 3 bloody times but it kept coming back to life. I lost count how many times I tried.

Now I've got my hands on the game and the reviews were right, it's mediocre at best in every single way. The graphics are horrible with blurry textures and relatively simple 3D models. The humor...well, unless pissing, pooping, the number 69 and stupid double entendres that would make even James Bond writers cringe ("I'd go down with you any day!" says a girl after Duke saves the day in an out of control elevator) are hilarious as hell, then you probably won't find it funny at all, although I did chuckle at how the awesomeness of Duke is portrayed in the game.

The level design is crap, it's made to be as linear as possible yet you can still get lost because everything mostly looks the same. In several parts you're just stuck in a room with enemies teleporting in, and can't move on until you kill them all. In general the design feels very dated, especially with the physics and jumping puzzles - there's even an air duct section at the start of the game. There's some halfassed attempts at modernizing the game like respawning armor and turret sections (ugh), but mostly it just feels like an FPS from 2004 somehow got released today.

Even some of the dialog is dated, like when the president talks about "the same aliens you fought twelve years ago" (1996 + 12 = 2011?) and the Olsen twins reference (seriously, an Olsen twins joke? In 2011?). The gameplay...well, it can be pretty fun in the simplest FPS way, since thankfully there aren't any cover mechanics (however, respawning armor and wide open maps aren't that good of a combination). Aiming is very clumsy with a 360 controller though. You could say it's because that's as good as using a mouse, but I've played games like Halo which do stick aiming much better.

To be honest, I doubt Gearbox even did that much to improve this dated mess of a game.

To say that the game is mediocre at best is not agreeing with the reviews, I would say. The reviews have been totally unreasonable.

Also, the game takes place in 2009. That's also when the SP campaign was finished.

Yeah, I may have been a little too kind when I said it was mediocre at best. Played a little further and after encountering the timeless "enemies popping up out of nowhere while you're stuck in the room!" gimmick again, I'm ready to say the game is downright awful. I mean, I wasn't expecting it to be great, or even good really, but after people here were saying it was at least a fun game, it's shocking how much the game feels like a total chore.

The sad part is that if this game had come out at least like 7-8 years ago, and with some improvements to the level design, it could've been half-decent, so it's not a case like Daikatana where the game was always going to suck. Today it just feels like an outdated pile of crap tossed out to the market to cash in on the curiosity value.

To see earlier builds of this would be interesting, just to see if it was bungled into a playable game to make $$$

or if it were better in its original state.

    Just finished it.
    Worth it.

Reviewers don't know what the fuck they are talking about.

As a Duke fan since I first played Duke Nukem II as a kid, I would completely recommend Duke fans to play it and most other people to stay the fuck away unless you like games with extremely crude humor, and/or like the pacing of a game like Half life.
This game is awesome. Loved every moment of it. Laughed my ass off so many times.

And I haven't even touched on the MP yet, but from what i've skimmed in Duke's Apartment and the cutomizable outfits, i bet it's just as fun.

Saying Duke's Level design and shooting mechanics are boring is like saying 99% of modern shooters have terrible level design and boring...owait.
