I wouldn't describe it as "cartoony". It's somewhat stylized for sure, but it looks nothing like Wind Waker. It looks very detailed, probably more so than any other Zelda game - which is not surprising, since it's the first Zelda game developed specifically for the Wii U. They only showed a brief clip of it though, so it's hard to say exactly what it'll be like.
Zelda looked pretty good environment wise and the horse movements were fantastic. That up close view of Link was current to last gen. His appearance was ok but a definite departure from standard Link. i liked the overall Nintendo video. The weirdest thing was that Starfox wasn't clearly shown but there was as a hint. And that whole dissing fans asking for Mother 3 was insulting. Do you really want to be dissing fans when your console is selling so badly? To be honest this whole E3 has been kinda weird. The Square announcement for Type 0 coming to PS 4 only days after the completed fan translation was released only adds to the unusual e3 it's been this year.
For everyone bringing up Nintendo "dissing" Mother 3 fans: You do realize they have more announcements tomorrow right? And that they "dissed" a fan asking about Star Fox in that video as well right? So... I wouldn't be too surprised if Mother 3 is shown some love tomorrow. I thought Nintendo wiped the floor with MS and Sony this year. Just... absolutely. Bayonetta 1 coming with Bayonetta 2, Devil's Third being exclusive, open-world Zelda, sequel to Canvas Curse, a new IP that looks like a Dreamcast game... I'll give MS props though. The Cinder tease was nice, Fable Legends is a good idea (that would be better executed on the Wii U...), and I'm glad to know that Crackdown and Phantom Dust will be getting some love. No Lost Odyssey though so... boo on them. Scalebound is almost guaranteed to be good though since, you know, Platinum Games. Sony... seems like the main thing everyone liked from them was No Man's Sky... but it also seems nobody realizes that that's just a timed exclusive...
Didn't bother watching Sony or MS this year and doesn't look like I missed too much. Nintendo's was a bit too heavy on the Smash Bros theme for my liking but they also showed us some fun looking stuff. No Sunshine HD though, hmm.
My my, the Smash hype train hasn't stopped quite yet! I'm not ashamed to admit that I think it's awesome to have Pac-Man in Smash. If nothing else, the tears of butthurt from Tales Of/Tekken/SoulCal fans will be delicious. Also, I just wanna beseech Nintendo: you've got a new GCN controller adapter for the WiiU. Thus, you've got the possibility of GCN games on Virtual Consoles. PLEEEEEAAAAAASE make new GCN controllers. I'd love to throw money at Nintendo for new official GCN controllers, especially if they come in new colors (c'mon, red/blue/yellow/green).
Nintendo already announced they are making Gamecube controllers? http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/06...-controller-and-smash-bundle-pricing-revealed
Yeah, they announced that like a week ago, I think. It's cool that they're doing that, and also that they're releasing a new GC controller. But if they're going to rerelease the GC controller, why not also rerelease the Wavebird? I'd buy a Wavebird or two if they started selling them again. I'll probably buy one of the regular GC controllers too, but come on... Wavebird! It's like the Cadillac of Gamecube controllers. I don't like to use that phrase, but whatever.
Oh. Shit. That makes me happy. Sign me up for one of those Smash4 bundles. I'd still like a range colors, but knowing Nintendo we probably won't get anything more than Black and possibly White controllers since the WiiU comes only in Black and White variants. It's a dang shame since I'd love to have the r/b/y/g colors I mentioned earlier to match the Player slot colors in SSB games. But you know what, I'll take this glass half-full; I'm stoked to see that SSB GCN controllers will be a retail reality.
That's some Garou Shit right there. Kotal Kahn, Cassie Cage? Plus that Chang and Choi character(s) Pretty much. Just ignore that Sony were the only people showing original ideas. The Order looks great,Arkham Knight looks like the Batman games are back on track and there's PS4 exclusive content. I love the indie support and that's going to give them variety. I have no idea what Microsoft is doing with their indies they didn't bother to give any one game a decent amount of time. All I saw from Nintendo was the same old shit besides Splatoon which I've already talked about. You all should have seen me raging at Nintendo fans on Twitter yesterday, It was epic (@reverendjohnw)
I'm not surprised that Nintendo's E3 showing was the best out of the three, considering they always know how to market to the fans. All those same titles full of whimsy and such. However it still remains to be seen if they'll do well in the next year, considering Sony and Microsoft have consistently better performance no matter what strange crap they pull in their presentation. I'm glad that Nintendo's bringing back the Gamecube controller, now all we need is Sega to bring back the Saturn controller. I saw PDP's colored controllers but I don't like the look of them considering they seem to be made of chintzy plastic, when a matte finish is always best for pads. They remind me too much of the third party controllers years ago. At least they connect to the Wii Remote. Ooh a Sonic movie. WTF is Outrun, Space Harrier, Afterburner, and Yakuza?!
It was the same old same old from Nintendo. 1 new IP which isn't going to save the Wii U. Eh I promised I'd go light on the Nintendo bashing. Oh Hyperkin is at E3. I guess they want to make more promises to break. There IS a Yakuza movie, directed by the master of Japanese Shock Takashii Miike
Yeah... not sure how yet another cover-based shooter and the third entry in a multiplatform series constitute as "original ideas", but if that's what helps you sleep at night. But it's OK, we know you're not very bright, carry on. (Oh, and FYI, two of Miyamoto's "experiments" he was showing off would classify as new IPs, and I would say all three of them are fairly original ideas. In fact, the Star Fox idea is something I wanted to see happen for Panzer Dragoon back in the day on the DS. )
You know I WAS GOING to apologize then you went and insulted my intelligence, Literally. Whatever though don't want to argue, I'll agree to disagree, and chalk it up to the fact you are a master of annoying me with something. We should just rent a ring and work out our differences like barbarians
It was nice to see that LBP3 is also coming to PS3. Probably the last big first party release for the system. That and Grid Autosport are probably the last "new" games i'll buy for it. With my current backlog and also some old games i still need to add to my collection, i can safely say next-gen for me only in 2015. By then it will be worth it.
I didn't know LBP3 was also coming to PS3. that seems to be a trend there are more cross gen titles now than there has been at any hardware leap ever. The last PS3 game I'll probably get is Persona 5.
