I was wondering what hard mods I could do on the Xbox that would be good for a beginner like me. No mod chips unless they are low costing and common please. The Xbox has a 1.4 board.
If you google it, you'd find your answers instantly. TSOP you don't buy, you bridge the write points on board writing chip and flash via an exploit. There's no required soldering, you can use a trace pen. http://www.biline.ca/xbox_mod.htm
Sorry, my internet isn't very good right now. The power went out where I'm at, so the router (which is on a battery) is on a low power mode. Google seems to be especially slow for some reason.
Yeah like everyone is saying, TSOP! i dont even softmod, no need. I made a custom softmod package to just flash the bios when James Bond gets exploited. (Custum Unleash X dash & a custom Evox dash)
That's no good - Well anyway, TSOP is your way to go Well that only works for 1.0 > 1.5. Softmod was basically for 1.6 motherboards. Nothing a modchip can't fix, but saying there is no need to isn't correct.
Mod chips are also easy. Solder wire from D0 to ground, solder in an LPC pin header, done. I can't do things like install PS2 mod chips or install extra 64 MB RAM on Xbox, yet modded Xboxes is easy for me.
I never thought about using a trace pen. That is pretty slick! I also wanted to add that since you have a 1.4 you do not even have to take the motherboard out of the shell. The solder points are on the top side. If you had a 1.0/1.1 you would have a bridge point on the top and bottom. I think the TSOP flash is great because you do not have to lock the hard drive! That makes upgrades so much easier! You can even move the hard drive from one xbox to another with no problem! The best thing to do is solder the points and install a soft mod. Then flash the TSOP. If you are going to upgrade the hard drive then install the hard drive. This way you do not have to worry at all about locking or unlocking any of the hard drives!
The reasion I said there is no need, is because after flashing the Tsop, there is no need for a softmod :-/ I dont get why people softmod there xbox only to flash the Tsop, more hassle than its worth, do what I done, make a custom exploit package, that let's you pick a bios & flash it all, it also installed the dashes I use & the config files needed for the bios. no softmod needed & no conflicts. (Also no faffing about with FTP & Discs)
How do you flash the Tsop without using a disc? And how do you get an exploit on there to enable you to flash it?
The no faffing about with FTP & Discs statment, is after you have flashed the Tsop. As for getting the exploit on the Xbox, the controler ports are modified USB1 hubs, so you can make a Xbox to USB cable & then format a USB pen in the memory manager on the xbox. To get the exploit on the USB, use 1 of the many fatx programs to transfer the files onto the USB pen. Same principle as the softmod, just I use a custom payload.
People who softmod before TSOPing most likely didn't know about TSOP. I softmodded before I TSOP'd ages ago, as I didn't know about (this was years ago). You still do use FTP after you TSOP for many things. Copying games by USB1.1 would take a light year to transfer. For small files it's ok. It seems you're a bit over the place with what you're saying, you still do need a disc to flash a bios via exploit. Also would still need to FTP your BIOS. Explain yourself clearly.
I know what he's talking about, because I did the same thing myself - put together a custom exploit package (in my case for 007:AUF) that just booted to Evo-X when you triggered the exploit and had the BIOS ROM images as part of the hacked savegame. So all you needed to do was copy the savegame to the HDD, boot 007, load it and then use Evo-X to flash the TSOP. So there is no need to install a softmod (or anything else except the savegame, in fact) onto the HDD.
Exactly my friend, at least someone understands :-/ the original poster asked for an easy hardmod, Tsop is the easiest, they also state they have a 1.4 Mobo, so the Tsop is 100% flashable (maybe winbon but still flashable), there is no need for softmods to be mentioned in this thread, or used if it can be avoided. PS. avoided, because they can cause conflicts with a flashed Tsop if not removed correctly. (The latter requires the use of FTP or a disc to remove said softmod, this is why I said no faffing about with FTP or Discs) Also were not talking about transferring stuff/games, to the HDD, really he should be using his discs in the drive for games & using UnleashX to copy said game to the HDD ;-) but again no need for FTP. This is the last time I'm going to explain myself, since really I don't need to nor should I have to, again. I have given ample explanations above & in the above posts.
You have to understand what you're saying is fine for someone with background of modding. This person is a beginner therefore not very useful. I never said Softmods were required either and don't quote multiple sentences for a reply, is a pain to read.
