    I thought it was listed far higher also, still pretty expensive but being one of a kind (?).

    it was $10,000 originally.

    When I sell, I just keep an eye on the number of people who put the item on their watch list.

    There was a time on ebay where the seller could see the maximum bid of the buyer. This was made a lot of bidders pissy because a lot of auctions were rigged for shilling at that time. The seller knew what the max bid was and simply told their friend to bid just slightly below that so that the real buyer will pay near the max bid they put.

    Well you miss out then, because on anything rare the bids almost always end up in the last minute. If people bid early then I often play ebay roulette and push the bid to his upper limit. It's amazing how many people put in a bid they aren't actually prepared to pay, so you get a second chance offer as they rarely stump up the cash. It's then funny when the seller wants you to pay one bid increment below the non paying idiot. I normally offer to ignore all the non payers bids and see if they'll negotiate up from that ( which they won't as they are normally scammers ).

    The last minute of a scph-5903 auction was the most fun I ever had on ebay and (fortunately) I didn't win it.

    Sorry jdc98! This thread is a bit of a double-edged sword - I've been pointed at some nifty stuff via posts here, but on the other hand, I've seen stuff outed here that I'd have much preferred to keep a cozy secret between my watch-list & the seller.;-)
