I can not get mine to load correctly. And I have tried to find more backgrounds as I suspect Microsoft paint doesn't save them correctly
Its not a typical format that most graphics programs support. If you PM image I can convert to correct format for you.
After some struggle, I've been able to convert my picture with gimp, It need to be a RVB picture, or else when you save the advanced options are grayed out. so make the picture an RVB one (use mspaint to save as 24bit bmp), then with gimp convert it to 640x480, then when you save as .bmp, click the "+" to expand advanced options and choose 16bit X1 R5 G5 B5. Worked on my ED64 immediately.
Are you gonna to add 512mb emulation to the everdrive 64. I realize that it might not be possible to emulate .
KRIKzz I'm sorry if this makes me come off as rude and demanding, but I have a feature request for the ED64. I think it would be a good idea to have an save backup feature in the OS. It would work something like this. You press the A button when a rom is selected in the menu. A submenu comes up and gives you four options 1. Load ROM 2. Backup the save to (rom name).bak 3. Restore save from (rom name).bak 4. Go back. Just incase some random glitch comes and screws up the save or the power goes out while writing the save file I think it might be an idea to put in a feature like this. Having more than one save backup per game would be nice too. Of course its really up to you and if you think my idea sucks you don't have to implement it
cart does not have any nonvolatile memory except SD card, so valid save data available only while gameplay or after reset. and what will happen when you press Backup the save in some random moment ? you just will rewrite save file by some random data which is in ram memory right now. cart's OS backup save data from ram to sd after reset automatically, and load back to ram when game loaded, so there is no any sence in such feature
To be honest I asked for the feature when I thought my Mario Party save had randomly been deleted. After I checked a few things I noticed I was wrong. I wanted this feature for some peace of mind more than anything else. My apologies for being selfish. While we're on the topic of saving may I ask do you plan on allowing more than one save per game in the future and is it possible in an update to write the save file to an SD card without pressing the reset button?
technically not hard to make any number of saves per game, but need to put extra menus to interface to control them. interface where a lot of various submenu and buttons, it is a what i really dislike, so i don't have the plan to implement such feature. saves without reset is possible, but need to make complicated fpga tricks. may be will be implemented someday
Krikzz, I take my hat off for you, just went to the post office today, and was surprised to find my Everdrrive 64 (from Retrogate) had already arrived, I will be honest in saying I wasnt expecting it for at least another 2 weeks, but it arrived today in record time 2 Weeks is very quick, its quicker than USPS or Royal mail, by far, not to mention I ordered it over December, the most busy time of the year PS Its working great, expect lots of youtube vids from me Edit: I love the Mission impossible card too lol
you are lucky man post works pretty bad in holidays period, i still wait a lot of packages which is almost one month in the way
how do you get the everdrive 64 to save ive tried everything, my files go like this ED64- ed64 roms N64- rom folder i dont know how to adjust the settings to save as everytime i shut the system down it erases all data.
I'm pretty sure you have to reset to save, shutting it off doesn't allow it to dump the save to the SD card, it just wipes the memory used to temporarily hold the save, since the memory is volatile.
thanks c-kones i guess i cant shut it off permenantly anymore, no its not ingame saves just regular save files you create and save in like super mario 64 or just regular character unlock saves such as super smash bros. so far it hasnt saved anything which sucks cuz i unlocked captain falcon and a few others on my everdrive 64.
I got my Everdrive 64 a few days ago and could not get it to work. I would get constant Int errors (Int 55, Int 69, Int 100) I tried googling and couldn't find any results. I tried reading the forums and couldn't find anything. So I signed up here and just as I was about to post I thought I wonder if it would help if I disconnected my 64DD. Now it works flawlessly lol. I'm sure this problem doesn't come up to often because I'm sure not too many people own this hunk of crap. What an awesome device the Everdrive 64 is. It's interface is so simple and everything runs and boots so quickly. Thanks for all your effort in designing this awesome device Krikzz. If I could make one very very tiny suggestion. Is there any chance of getting analog support on the rom selection menu or I guess the whole interface in general. I know it sounds incredibly lazy but having to switch my grip on the controller every time I boot a new game is a little bit of a pain.
