My Everdrive64 arrived today. Thank you KRIKzz! I noticed that the "dot-files" are not hidden. For the Macuser, like me, it would be nice to hide them. But it is not so important. I am super happy without improvement, too! Maybe there is someone who need a Mario64 Cart:gravediggingwithout shell and without CIC 7101) ;-)
Also a Mac user and the solution I found was to use BlueHarvest for Mac. Lets you clean drives of extra hidden mac files. I've been using it for my Everdrive/Powerpak flash cart. http://www.zeroonetwenty.com/blueharvest4/
I could be vastly mistaken, but I seem to recall there being a setting you could put in OSX to disable Finder from generating those . files from when I used to have a macbook
Could i flash the firmware chip with my willem programmer. I have no problem desoldering and resoldering the chip if needed other than that tracking says my ed-64 is near =] thanks a bunch krikzz
Just use dot_clean from a terminal on MacOS whenever to copy files to external storage. It will remove those files of you.
off topic but why does osx still make all those files anyway, is it supposed to be some kind of file list redundancy?
They're to store finder view settings. And the ._filename ones are to store resource fork data... some tools still use resource forks for icons and such.
Be careful with Blue Harvest! You can end up corrupting files that require those hidden files. Using 'dot_clean', which comes with OS X, will simply merge the hidden data with the original file, keeping it intact (as long as you don't need to use it on an old version of MacOS).
Thank you you've been a major help One more... I can't seem to get downloaded .sra files for games like Ocarina of Time and Smash Brothers to work (e.g. I want 100% complete in Smash Brothers) but the game just doesn't recognize the save. Also tried .ram saves from icequake to no avail... Am I doing something wrong here? I got it to recognize the .eep saves though Also what's an easy way to download saves to my controller memory card from the net, transfer pack? DexDrive looked like it once worked...but Windows 7 and no Serial port (not arse'd enough to get a USB-to-serial adapter and virtual machine so not that worth the effort )
It's part of the MacOS legacy *shrug* and actually on pre-osx versions of MacOS enabled a lot of really impressive features and such. Resource forks and such are also a feature of NTFS as well though I don't know of anything that uses the ADS feature on NTFS.
Hi, I got my everdrive 64 yesterday, but haven't gotten a chance to try it out yet (i will later tonight when I go to a friends house). I had a question or two though. 1) does the everdrive64 support zipped files? 2) I read it support PAL games on NTSC consoles - will it play in PAL resolution / framerate, or will it run according to the region of n64 in use?
1) not supported 2) probably framrate is 50hz if pal game on ntsc system. main problem for ntsc system it is a grayscale picture in pal games
yeah PAL games will switch to a PAL output, you might be ok playing on an hdtv as some will take the PAL signal properly and just adjust accordingly, but on my SD tv I just get a scrolling picture. I've only tested 40 Winks tho. (is there a patch that makes it put out NTSC video?)
you know whats funny for BOTH pal and ntsc tvs with poor 50/60 support is if you have the 50/60 switch a PAL when switch to 60 will display a B/W pictures and ntsc will display 50 in B/W its always drive me nuts that PAL tvs usually supported NTSC with no issues why couldn't TV company's just sell PAL tvs world wide -.-'
my sharp lcd support 50hz mode on the composite/svideo input (at least when I made the 50/60 switch on my ntsc snes,) with color. Hopefully it will be the same with a real pal game.
