people prefer the already complete version over having to do anything themselves

its dosnt really matter what you want just like no matter how badly ide wish the ever drives would be mass produced its dont matter what i want ether

gotta ether bite the bullet or wait for a group sale

Not everyone does, I completely agree. That's why you can buy the board, there are quite a few retailers that sell them now. I didn't have enough ED64 boards to justify offering just the board right now. Once I do I will sell boards as well.

Everything printed for the ED64 Deluxe is done by professionals. Everything is dye cut. Even the gold foil back labels I got a custom dye made for them. I don't print this stuff off on my inkjet printer. The only thing I print off is the back labels for serial number which is done on my laser.

There is a lot of work that goes into making a Deluxe Edition, especially for the ED64.

I pay the same money to Igor as everyone else. All I am do is offering a product people want. Not everyone is interested in printing off inkjet labels and modding the cart themselves. I think that's what makes the EverDrive line great. You have the option.

I will eventually give Igor a PDF manual that anyone can download like ED-MD and Super ED. It won't be the nice color manual that comes with this package though. It will just be regular black and white PDF manual you can print off.

I am also working on getting these manuals translated into a bunch of different languages.

I wonder when retrogate will be getting more and if they will be able to maintain that $99 price with a cart casing.

Ok I read through this entire thread...so to recap

    1. Banjo Tooie and Majoras Mask does not work or does not save? (Jet Force Gemini the same but there's a fix...where?)

    2. Cruis'n World, F-Zero X and Yoshi's Story need the fixed versions to work?

    3. Reset first to save then safe to shut power off?

    4. Do games that require memory card saves require an actual memory card or do the saves store on the SD card?

    5. I see it will be 1.01...is there already an OS update, with like what changes? If so how would I do the OS update properly without hurting the ED64?

I want the most out of the ED64 and max game compatibility. If I missed anything it'd be greatly appreciated if you could fill it in or any help at all would be great :)

Majora's Mask has a save fix, I don't believe that Tooie even boots properly cuz it is a 6105 game and the bootemu can't handle it properly

    2. Cruis'n World, F-Zero X and Yoshi's Story need the fixed versions to work?

Get version 1.01+ of OS, they are fixed

    3. Reset first to save then safe to shut power off?

Yes, you must push reset button so ED64 can transfer current save from memory to SD card. It does not use any type of memory which can retain the data after poweroff

    4. Do games that require memory card saves require an actual memory card or do the saves store on the SD card?

    You need the controller pack.

    5. I see it will be 1.01...is there already an OS update, with like what changes? If so how would I do the OS update properly without hurting the ED64?

OS is at 1.02, you just copy it to sd card. FIRMWARE will require usb blaster when updated

You may want to buy a usb blaster clone in advance off ebay (think they only average around $13). KRIKzz has stated that if/when he can fix his FlashRAM code, it will definitely require firmware flashing, not just an OS update

i will get an no usb version of the everdrive64 from emere.es.

1)is it possible to order the "usb-parts" for the everdrive64 somewhere? for the usb connection?

2)Or, is it possible to update the firmware via the 10PIN JTAG? What is the AS-connector for?

    i am a little interested ;-)

    1. FPGA
    2. CIC (out of an old N64 Game-Cart)
    6. Transistor in SOT223
    7./9./11./12./13. Resistors?
    8. USB-Connector
    10. capacitors?

    i think i will need 7,8,10,11,12

Does anybody know, what the parts 3,4,5,(7) are for?

As with all EverDrives you cannot update the Firmware via the USB. There really isn't any huge advantage ordering the USB unless you plan on developing a game for the system.

AS = Active Serial you actually use this to update firmware. Just have to put Quartus into Active Serial mode instead of JTAG.

    Aha. Thanks StoneAgeGamer!
So it is definitely possible to do a firmwareupdate with my ed64-card without modify. That are good news!

Just for understanding. Is the Firmware direkt on the FPGA or on a other part(EEPROM?) which is connected to the FPGA?
The JTAG is for programming the FPGA and the AS is to connect to the storage of the fpga?!?

Unlike previous EverDrives you will use the AS (Active Serial) on this board to update the firmware. Previous EverDrives used JTAG. You can use the same USB Blaster to do this as you did with previous EverDrives you just have to select Active Serial instead of JTAG in the Quartus software.

Probably his own development purposes, he would have to answer that.
