I must be fortunate then. My launch 360 hasn't crapped out yet. Watch now, It'll die within the next week,
Very lucky indeed. I wished I still had my launch 360 because they had the better drives I have been told and its always good to say you got the console on day one.
I was just telling DeadPerfect my system always freezes on a certain screen, and mid sentence it froze. I think the 360 really is a Decepticon.
Ok doubters How about the fact my 360 redringed when it was PLUGGED INTO A PROTECTOR when I first got it and hasn't given me a problem since? Chromehounds froze on me yesterday but it was unpatched and I know there were issues with the game.
If you have a shitty power bar\surge protector\UPS that doesn't give j00 enough Amps, you're gonna have problems. Ever ran a comp with an insufficiant PSU? Blue screens, instability, random reboots, PCI cards dropping out, it's a nightmare. But if your power bar doesn't provide enough V or A, it's not gonna make the system overheat, is it? It's gonna make it reboot, be unstable and refuse to start most likely. If your 360 power brick is drawing too much power, either it'll blow, melt or kill the system. Do some independant thinking and you'll realise that there is no way surge protectors can kill a 360. The worst they could do is blow the power brick, and even that's improbable (I don't know if they're dual voltage or how much they can take above or below their rated specs, but big supplies are usually pretty hardy) I also don't know what the red rings cover. If it's just disconnected chips, its poor cooling. If it also means 'not enough jooce', there's your answer.
Mine wasn't on a surge when it red ringed...pretty sure it's not surge protectors, and I think it's prolly better to use a surge protector in case theres a.....surge?
 surge protectors protect from a surge. that reminds me... SUUUUUURRRRRRRGGGGGE!!! FEED THE RUSH!!!
The same reason some people's Xboxs are breaking left, right and center while others are playing theirs non stop in enclosed spaces with no issues at all. Be it Karma, God, luck, coincidence, whatever you believe. Of course, it could also be the PSU, if 3 lights also covers a PSU\power issue.
I'll tell you another reason something that plagued the original XBOX as well as 360 Faulty Disc Drives but that's been addressed as they're using new drives.
I'm betting that MS wishes there were more people like you around - people who blame themselves when their 360 fails....?
I don’t know… I bought mine the first month it released and it is still working great. My satellite box on the other hand sucks I have had to replace it 3 times in the last year. 4 times the year before that On broken 360s, I would bet you would find a connection between broken 360s and how they sit and were they sit in. For example if you always have it flat or upright and is it in a enclosed video cabinet or outside on a shelf.
SUCK! I've been playing that thing hardcore since Friday and haven't had any problems. Except...I rented a movie and while I was watching it I flicked the left joystick and the picture froze but the sound kept going... I just turned it off.
Thompson drive Samsung Drive I think they had a Toshiba too didn't they? and we all know the Thompson drive was Faulty.
Yeah, I'm not sure if there was another one or not, but 360 has had the same amount plus another I think. I really hope I get a BenQ drive and one of the ones with the tacked in heatsink this time.
I know somebody who had to get 2 360s one was a launch unit the other had a faulty drive. Anyways My OG XBOX has a Thompson drive and just like with my 360 I've been lucky, though some times it doesn't want to read DVDs.
