meh, I can't understand the guys at square enix remaking the game would of course cost some big money but they KNOW they would get a multi-million seller guaranteed. instead of that, they just waste money rereleasing a game nobody will buy even if it's cheap...
I agree that FFVII isn't all that fantastic. FFVIII was a better game in many ways, but story wasn't one of them. :/ Personally, I haven't really enjoyed any FF game post SNES era.
Not without a decent incentive they won't, it's already got a PC release so if you wanted it on PC chances are you have it already, so far it looks like this only adds achievements and the option to store saves via cloud storage. It might add higher resolution backgrounds/FMVs and offer widescreen support but they aren't exactly forthcoming with information which leads me to believe this won't be happening, if it was it would be the thing to shout about, not lame achievements and cloud saves, that's not really a selling point.
You really think people who still pay for FF7 related crap will care about all this? They'll go "IT'S FINARU FANTASII SEBENUU~ ^O^" and throw money at it.
Gotta look into these mods, I never got past the first disc of final fantasy 7 because when I first got it I only had the 1st disc. I think I wanna put some time into finishing it now. :stupid:
I've played FF VII on PC with various mods. The realistic characters mod (or whatever it's called) is a cool idea, but it just looks goofy as hell when actually playing the game. The animations were meant to be used with the chibi Lego models, so when using the mod, it just looks wierd. I still like using the break 9999 limit mod, and using the music mod is a must unless you happen to prefer the midi soundtrack for whatever reason. You know, I don't really blame Square for this. People always bitch about a FF VII remake despite there not being a FF V or VI remake. This isn't a remake, but hey, maybe it will shut some kids up for a while. Plus, Square hasn't really milked FF VII. They milked the game's success, but not really the game itself. FF I and II had numerous ports and remakes across all sorts of systems. FF III had a remake for the DS that was ported to the iPhone and soon the PSP. FF IV has been extremely whored out with all its ports and a remake, on top of the sequel which has been ported 3 times if I'm not mistaken. FF V and VI had "enhanced" ports on the GBA and PS1. FF X had a sequel and is getting an HD remaster. FF VII didn't have an enhanced port, remake, or direct sequel, only a bunch of spinoffs (some good, but mostly crap). I'm actually kind of looking forward to this, assuming they touched up the graphics in certain spots and worked the game around to be able to do widescreen. If not, then meh. I can always play the PSX or modded PC version instead if I ever feel the urge to play again.
That is so laughable. Neither of those two was as good as VI or IV. FFVII was not really that spectacular. I certainly didn't find FFVIII much better.
Bad move Chum Lee... FF7, 9, and 10 were my favs. Eight was just too different for me. I got as far as Ifrit twice and that's all I needed. I only happen to like bits of it because of Kingdom Hearts.
Personally ff7 had me "wanting" to see the story unfold, ff8 on the other hand didn't even make it to disc 2 for me xD
I would say with the financial difficulties that Square Enix are apparantly having maybe they are testing the water so to speak to see how well sales go before they waste time and resources on building the game from the ground up as everyone wants the PS3 tech demo to become reallity. Though not long before Square were adament that a FF7 remake was not being made and if it was it would be their trump card. All these new features seems to me like a way to make extra (DLC type) money, though the acheivements are a great idea for replayability unless of course you have to do some crazy arse stuff (someone somewhere mentioned dating Tifa, Aeris, Yuffie and Barrett as 4 different acheivements). Though FF7 have had a few spin offs (dirge of cerberus, Crisis Core and the mobile phone game and cameo parts in Ergheiz and Kingdom Hearts) none came close to the feel and emotion of the original.
Gotta agree with the FF8 haters. Was like playing a game based on all of the Emo kids at my highschool.
Maybe they'll change the dialog in the FF7 rerelease to make Cloud into an angsty guy too, so it'll be consistent with all the newer FF7 media. And of course, there has to be an option to resurrect Aerith.
After VI the FF games just became a mess of emo garbage. Well, IX was OK, but eh... the closest I've seen Squeenix and/or Sakaguchi come to making something almost as good as IV or VI was Lost Odyssey.
True, but the story is a lot better (and actually makes more sense) if you go with the "Squall is dead" theory: http://squallsdead.com/
