ok let me explain this QSB with hdmi port is connected via fcc cable to the hdmi main board with the fpga so the gc video gignal go to the mainboard to the fpga and the hdmi signal from the fpga go back to the qsb via the fcc cable then to the hdmi port. the idea is to remove the digital port and install this QSB it will place the hdmiport hwre the original port is and only a small 3d printed plate will go arounf the hdmi port to make it fit the digital port and look OEM no case cuting to shield cuting. its idea in my head but will try to build it in a pcb software.

I mean, you could, but it would involve more work for what (I think) would be an inferior-looking result. I'd say it's much easier to have a good-looking cut-out for the HDMI port than having a 3D printed cover for the Digital AV port. Plus, you'd have to desolder the Digital AV port.

    Neat looking project.
Curious what the reason for the spacer board is. Is it to increase the thickness/height of the board/HDMI connector? Or is it more for via/circuit isolation from the cage.

Its to raise the main board up; it is designed to fit in this plastic area on the back panel:

Giving an update about the lack of updates. I was on vacation all last weekend so I didn't get anything worked on. I messed with PCE for a customer last night, just a little bit more work until that is finished up. Now I'm helping my Mom move this weekend and next weekend. I don't have much free time.

I did get a shipment notification for OSH park yesterday for the revised wasp dvd board. This board was changed to fit a 3.3vreg to power the wasp.
I also need to get some more cubes in to do some HDMI testing. Once I get a new cube in I'll assemble that kit with the better chip and see how she does.

@citrus3000psi: I have a question for you. Don't you need to cut the signals between the drive and the motherboard? I have always known that it was mandatory...

When you install the Host QSB you have to remove all but one of the signal filters. Then the host QSB solders into there place. With the filters gone this simulates cutting a trace. I'll add info to the first post. Forgot to mention that, thanks.

Its pretty much the same, but the original was intended for xc3S50a. The new one is designed for the xc3S200a
The differences on this new PCB/QSB
    Removed the JTAG holes.
    Added SPDIF/IR Pads
Uses 20Pin FFC cable instead (controller pad input nowgoes over the FFC cable)
    Added Controller Pad to QSB

But yes otherwise they are pretty much the same.
