Yeah the mods can't stop private sales, but no one can really. Well, at the very least it'll help stop sales going through that site. Congrats!

But the reality is repros will be repros, and as long as people are willing to buy them they will be sold. Not much that can be done, unfortunately.

I'd be curious to see what this "different patch" is.

Sorry, you don't get to take a rom patch someone else spent a huge amount of time on and sell it without asking the authors for permission. Especially when you're a jerk about it when you're called out for doing it.

Maybe it's the unpatched version? Who knows. Especially if they don't say what hack they're using, there's no way to prove its yours without dissecting the ROM on the board.

But, You can't possibly stop them all, especially once China figures out your patches exist.

It looks like the other person who had a post on that site also removed all pictures about their Zelda release. Probably was the same patch this guy was using. So at least the Nintendo Age site won't allow that stuff anymore.

Assuming it has the n64 boot logo, it'd be easy enough to tell since Ozidual has been the only one to get that working. Details on how to patch that have only been posted for the debug rom. Another way to tell would be the presence of the Game Saved text, since only our patches have that as well.

@aroenai Thanks! That is awesome! It looks like one of the Mods got into it too.

I understand the Mod's point saying that we did not ask Nintendo's permission. However, I feel that hacking a game so it looks like an earlier retail version of itself is very different from selling a game you don't own. Yes, it's still a gray area, just a much lighter shade.

I understand people wanting to own a cart version of this game. I actually bought a flash cart almost entirely to play Master Quest. It's more expensive than a repro, but it assures a certain level of quality. It's also a lighter shade of gray area in my book, and it'll let me play Aroenai's version if/when I get an ultrahdmi :) I'm sure aliexpress and/or eBay sellers will pick up the patch at some point. There's nothing to do about that. I just feel sorry for anyone who purchases from that other site selling for $175+.

Is it one of the ones with fake screws that snap firmly together?

It probably is considering they won't even budge. Is a hammer going to be the only way to open it?

I used a spudger on the snes game I had with those fake screws, you can try anything thin between the plastic and do some gentle prying if it snaps together it should open that way.

I have that one and while it'll probably get you into pretty much everything, it does have a very sharp edge that leaves marks. I use these most of the time.

I'm pretty sure the screws are real and you need to unscrew them. This seller now has the cart at -15% off btw.

Rocky mentioned a gamebit while the photos on AliExpress clearly show Philips heads, so I guess what shell/screws you end up with may be random?

I think the shells are the same and just the screws are different since in his video the gamebit screws are made out of metal. If they were fake screws they would be moulded into the shell and therefore plastic.

What I think is the problem is that both the gamebit screws and his gamebit screw driver are of very bad quality and the tolerances of each part are so high that they just don't fit together.

So time to get a drill ... for science. ;)

If there's no screws then it's glued. Can use a guitar pick like Bad mentioned or use phone pry tools.

Otherwise brute force method would be to lightly use a vice until you hear a pop then pry it open.
