There are 4 different save types: 4K Eeprom, 16K Eeprom, Sram and Flashram. The last one has not been found in a reproduction yet. Some 4K Eeprom games like Super Mario 64 do not work in a 16K Eeprom repro, others do work. You can't save any Eeprom save type game with a Sram repro and you can't save any Sram save type game with a Eprom repro.

    Flash sizes found so far:
Spansion S29GL256N (either with one or two chips -> 32MB or 64MB)
    Intel 4400L0ZDQ0 (64MB)
    Fujitsu MSP55LV512 (64MB)
    Fujitsu MSP55LV100S (64MB)
Macronix MX29LV640 (either with one or two chips -> 8MB or 16MB).

Ah, so they did not abstract the saving through that FPGA? Too bad, could've been a seriously cheap (albeit maybe a bit unwieldy due to the external reader/writer requirement) "universal" flashcart. Oh well, you still get a decent enough bang for your buck at ~$20 imho.

I'm using an Arduino Mega in combination with my cartreader Arduino sketch. As long as you buy a 64MB repro like Resident Evil or Conker 64, my Arduino sketch should be able to reprogram the flashrom inside. The chinese sellers started using different flashroms on smaller games now for which I have to adapt the code first.

I think the last 16byte just a mark.
because n64 or cpld can not direct read these data.

Also this cartridge is flashed with their custom flasher, probably a 5v VCC flasher.

Fwiw, here's some more shots of what appears to be the same board revision that zouzzz already showed off. Ordered on 15.8., and the ROM on there is OoT:MQ. The build quality is decent, probably could've fooled me had I come across it in a flea market situation (apart from no official MQ carts existing, of course).

    Yay piracy! :(

It sucks that reproductions are so widely accepted. Eventually it will become very hard for people to distinguish between originals and bootlegs without opening up the cartridges. This is already a problem when buying on eBay and it will only get worse.

I can maybe see the point in custom cartridges in case of fan translations and unreleased games. But why not play those on an EverDrive instead?

I’m all for physical games, but I don’t see the appeal in having fake games on my shelves. It’s no different than a burned PS1 disc to me.

At the very least makers of these should have the decency to add a huge skull and bones logo to each cartridge’s shell, so there would never be the slightest doubt that it was nothing more than a pirated game.

    It's fantastic.

If you only want like 2-3 carts, maybe. Beyond a certain point, or even if you just follow a mod with a high update freqency, an Everdrive or 64drive quickly become the better option.

Would anyone be willing to trade his Fujitsu MSP55LV100S Conker repro for a Intel 4400L0ZDQ0 repro? In the name of science. :p
