So I finished The Evil Within last night. At least I think I did... I'm not entirely convinced that game ever really started, but hey, it was fun. It's a shame it looks like it'll be pulling an Asura's Wrath and finishing the story with DLC though.
1 seemed to be more interested in existing in a dark, morbid world with flashes of humor. 2 seemed to be more focused on being outright funny and bizarre with flashes of morbidity. Also I believe 2 is easier than 1, but that's all opinion. 1 had Tube Race and the first part of Buttville while 2 had The Flyin' King and the later Puppy Love levels, so they both had their difficulty spikes. I still watch Ren and Stimpy. That show was pretty decently ahead of its time. Even after they fired John K and the Games Animation team took it over it was still hilarious.
Finally! All hammers intact, too! Getting all the Mii Headgear was the real grind, though. PS: apologies for the crappy picture
Maybe that's why I like 2 more. It's just so weird and funny. The music is great in part because it's often used almost ironically. Moonlight Sonata in Jim's Now A Blind Cave Salamander (called Villi People in the SNES version) is a good example of this. EWJ2 is not that hard, but it's hard for me to judge, since I've played the game so many times that I pretty much have the entire thing memorized. The only level that really gives me much difficulty is the last level, See Jim Run, Run Jim Run.
Beat 2 games this past week, Pokemon Card Game 2 Translated for the GBC and Mario Pinball Land for the GBA, the latter of which I almost went insane trying to beat the last boss.
I finished a couple of games recently. The other day I finished Alien: Isolation. It took me a long time to finish it, because I stopped and started multiple times. I found it to be a little frustrating in parts, but I still enjoyed it overall. What really struck me about it is how beautiful the graphics are - the amount of detail that they put into even the tiniest things in the game is really impressive. It's really a perfect expression of the aesthetic of the Alien movies, something that probably couldn't have been done until now. I'm interested to see if they're going to make a sequel. I also finished Parappa the Rapper last night. I remember when I first got this game when it came out, it took me a long time to finish it. This time I managed to finish it in one sitting - I think it took me maybe an hour or so. It's cheesy and stupid, yet really fun and enjoyable. One of the best games for the PS1, I think. At the end of the game it says something like, "Coming soon... Parappa the Rapper 2!" Which is funny because the first one came out in 1997, and 2 came out in 2002. Anyway, it seems logical that now I should play Parappa the Rapper 2. It's not as good as the first one, but it's still pretty good. I should probably give UmJammer Lammy a try at some point too; I own it, but I haven't played it much.
It's a game I've been keeping an eye on for a while, I really want to play it. Apparently there's loads of suspense.
Finished up Resident Evil 5 co-op with a friend of mine. While it was entertaining, it certainly wasn't the RE I prefer. Probably my least favorite, although I've yet to play 6. I've also been wanting to try Alien: Isolation. Based on what I've heard it's the best Alien game yet. I like the fact they went with the survival-horror-stealth route as opposed to all-out first person shooter. I guess its more Alien than Aliens in that regard.
I finished the snes remake of famicom detective club part 2:the girl in back yesterday. It was a short but sweet mystery game with some interesting twists. My only complaint is that they left some plotholes unexplained. It had some nice touches in the credits like giving you the results of a personality test depending on how you played the game and a compatibility meter that tells you which girl in the story the protaganist is most likely to end up with.
Just got the platinum in Final Fantasy Type-0. Surprisingly good story for a modern FF (especially one in the same universe as FF13). Hated the combat, camera and poor airship design though.
I would also like a true, proper sequel. Triad wars is supposed to come out sometime this or next year, but it's going to be a PC online game, so It's definitely going to be a different style of game.
I'd be interested in a True Crime 4, er... I mean Sleeping Dogs 2. Pretty sure it sold below SE's expectations, but considering United Front Games gave them a game that was very close to 100% completed I couldn't see costs being that high.
TRON 2.0 with Killer App mod, and Osawari Tantei: Ozawa Rina Rising 3. I wish that Osawari Tantei 3 would come out in english it.
On sunday I finished Star Wars: Rogue Squadron on the N64. I have the game since I was a child but never had beaten it, now this has changed. It is really a great game and the Chapter 3's missions are definitely not easy. Sometimes I thought the game was too dark so I had to change some of my TV's configuration to increase the brightness but this was my only complaint about the game. And maybe the Chapter 3's missions could be a bit easier. This game has aged very well, the graphics, the sound and the gameplay are all great even today. Now I started playing Star Wars: Battle for Naboo on the N64.
I saw that! The cover reminded me a bit of Ico. Although based on your anti-recommendation I shouldn't mention the two games in the same breath. Why was it so bad?
Never played ICO, but my wife did immediately think Never Alone looked like a brighter/snowier Limbo. The game was just too short, levels were poorly designed, controls felt like sludge, I found it to have mildly racist undertones and the whole game screams "I made this to win awards" (*ahem*), which is a current trend in indie gaming that I absolutely loathe. I didn't like the theme either, but that is just my personal preference.
Just finished GTA V PC Great game, though the ending didn't feel like a proper "ending" to me. The game was the same difficulty from about mission 4 or 5 and on.
