At the beginning there was some choices related to the previous games that I did not understand very well and they affect the game a bit but not very much. In general, I did not find the game confusing even though I had not played the previous games.
Just finnished Dynamite Headdy. Jesus this game is hard. It's so hard that I wasn't able to enjoy finnishing it, especially since the final boss is easier to beat than the second to last "rival" level. It's beatiful and lots of fun but it could've used better gameplay balance. I heard they evened it out by making all of the levels stupid hard in the eu/us release lol. Thank god i was playing the "easy" *cough*stillshithard*cough" japanese version .
I finished Shenmue the other day. This is a game that I've played many times (and it's one of my favorite games ever), but I've only actually finished it a few times. What often happens is that I'll get to the part where Ryo gets a job as a fork lift operator, and then I just get bored during that part and give up. And if I can make it through that part, I often give up at the final battle, due to the difficulty of that part. I finished it this time, though. I noticed a couple interesting things that I never noticed before: in the part where Ryo is riding the motorcycle to go save Nozomi, the music that plays has a melody that's almost identical to one of the songs in F355 Challenge (another AM2 game). Another thing I noticed is that in the credits, in the special thanks section it lists Studio 4°C. I didn't know they were involved with Shenmue, and I'm curious as to what they contributed. I think I'm going to play Shenmue II next. I have 2 copies of the PAL DC version, so I ought to play one of them, dammit. I guess I could play both copies at the same time if I wanted to.
Just finished up Max Payne 3 yesterday for the second time. First time was for 360, this time on PC. Hard mode on Free Aim. Wasn't nearly as bad as what I thought it would be. As soon as you get into the habit of shoot-dodging a lot, it gets relatively simple.
Just finnished Half-Life on the Dreamcast. Actually the first time I've finnished this game. It was nice. Definitely one of the better fps games. Also almost finnished Mickey Mania on the mega drive. The second to last level, escape, is f*cking insanely hard. I've watched walkthroughs by "pros" on YouTube and even those guys are constantly barely managing to not get burnt to death by the rising fires of hell. Shit, Disney, isn't this supposed to be a childrens game? Ffs.
Finished Toki (Arcade) on MAME! After all these years...! God I forgot how hard it is. After spending so many coins when I was a kid, watching others playing and finishing it to learn/remember the tricks, I was only able to reach until then last level but not to the last boss. After all these years I thought it would be much easier... How wrong I was!
Finished Mario sunshine. FLUDD was innovative but the game as a whole felt unfinished. Too much rehashing of the same stuff like chasing that shadow Mario, red coin challenges and a massive amount of blue coins that you can't hope to find without a guide. And Yoshi was crippled to the point of being useless. Still a good game, just not great.
Mickey Mania on the megadrive. Finally done with it. A great game, really one of the absolutely best 16bit action platformers graphics/musicwise. The game balance, however, could be better eventhough it's not at all bad.
My favorite game on Mega Drive. I don't remember how many times I have finished it when I was young. I've also played it some days ago after a long time, straight on hard with the fewer lives option, I went to the last stage but couldn't make it lol. By the way, on PSX there's a different version of the game called Mickey's Wild Adventures. It's basically the same game but with better quality sounds I think (and some different ones) and also an extra stage.
You mean the "escape" level when you're supposed escape the rising fire? That level is sadistic lol I heard about that version, someone told me that the music sucked on the psx.
Well... Even if you find me a version with the super HD sound and more soundtracks I wouldn't choose it over the Mega Drive! Anyway, remember that Moose Chase level/boss? The PSX version has an extra one at the end of Mickey and the Beanstalk stage.
I like that. It would've been a nice addition to the md game too. I wonder if it was scrapped from the md version or if it was exclusively developed for the psx? Whatever the case, I like it
The sounds/voices are also kinda different, richer. Maybe all these couldn't fit in a Mega Drive's cartridge?
Yeah but that's an obvious advantage of any cd based console. That level, however, could've easily been fit on an md cartridge.
