Trust me, I've played them all. Still don't understand why you're bashing Heavy Rain for. Im not saying it's better than those games but it certainly was something different to the overused, shoot-kill, shoot-kill formula that's become mainstream lately. Not saying I don't enjoy my modern action/kill games, but every once in a while I enjoy a game that goes outside the mainstream. Heavy rain did it for me this gen. Imo it was a breath of fresh air because its been a while since a game like that was released. The lucasarts games you mentioned were in the 90's dude. I was referring to this era. I liked it and that's all that matters...To each his own

Have to agree with GOH...Gun Star Super Heroes was pretty awesome for the GBA. Great sequel to the original which I still have for the genesis. Cant believe someone said it was an exact copy and paste of the original. It makes no sense to say that. Its like saying, pretty much every sequel to a successful game is a "copy and paste". and that isn't exactly true. While the game feels almost the same, the experience or gameplay may be different at least

    Welcome to my ignorelist.

I spent an hour on Heavy Rain.

I felt like I was playing Autism: THE GAME. Not even the promise of Nudity (On a Manish Madison) was enough to make me want to play through it more.

Gotta say, Heavy Rain was a pretty big disappointment for me as well. What interests me most though is this part of your reply. Games for me don't automatically become good or better just because they aren't part of the current norm (violent FPS craze), they are good on their own merit - no matter its window of release. . . .

As for Nintendo, wtf is wrong with them? They have so many different IP's that they still seem to make no use of or just throw around. Speaking of, where is the next 2D Metroid? Or a new F-Zero? Or something worth getting interested in? I didn't buy the Wii-U or 3DS yet for a reason. Not that I am completely uninterested in the 3DS, I just don't have money to waste yet. & Only a handful of titles have caught my eye. A lot of upcoming games are looking interesting, though. Region Lock still off-putting.

    Also, Pikmin 3.

all i can say to this matter is just look into the Japanese or (Europe?) Library for once & you'll experience tons of awesome unheard of games before!

Back in the 80s/early 90s, the UK had an entirely exclusive computer gaming scene with the BBC Micro and Sinclair that was unheard of in the US. In fact the first time I heard about those games was in a RetroGamer magazine which is UK based. There are particularly famous Sinclair games that if you asked any American gamer they'd have no idea what your talking about.

Some game systems like the Vita and late era psp are almost entirely dependent on import games from Japan to get any sort of decent library. At least sony doesn't region lock..

So what if they were in the 90s? That just makes Heavy Rain look even worse because the same kind of game was done much better 20 years ago. As for it being a while since a game like that was released, Telltale has been putting out adventure games regularly for several years, all of them, except maybe the Back to the Future one, being much better than Heavy Rain. In fact, their Walking Dead game is pretty similar to Heavy Rain except its plot is a million times better.

I have no idea what system you're talking about, but it can't be the Wii U or 3DS since there's absolutely no import games of interest on either.

Soul Calibur 2 HD Announced. No WII U Version planned.

So what does that say about Nintendo's State of Affairs?

Every 8-bit styled game is in NES style. How many 8-bit Master System throwbacks do you see? NONE

I can apprecate Nintendo's contributions as game developer. But all you need is go back through this thread to see what I think of them as a Company.

Exactly, for better or worse. By and large today's developers just don't care about non-American retro gaming.
It isn't like you see much for throwbacks to PC-88 or MSX either.

Every now and then the 8 Bit bug bites me and what do I want to play? Some Good ole NES platformers. Not SNES or Megasis (or Genedrive?) though they have their place too.
There's just something about a GOOD NES game. Be it Ninja Gaiden, Mega Man, Castlevania, Capcom disney gmes, or unsung games like Kickmaster, MC Kids, Panic Resturant (if you can find a cheap copy) There's just that NES Magic you can't get elsewhere.

There's a Reason after 22 years I keep going back to Mega Man 3.

Uh... no. IIRC GSH used the exact same levels and bosses as GS for the most part.

Like I said, it was the equivalent of Sonic 2 being the original Sonic with the spin-move and Tails. Or every Mega Man game featuring the same levels and robot masters as the original, just changing up the level design and boss moves slightly.

I mean, if they had advertised it as a remix as opposed to a proper sequel that would have been one thing, but don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining.

I mean't was there's some Japanese 3DS &/or PSVita games that are actually worth getting like e.g God Eater 2 (PSVita) MIND≒0 (PSVita) Exstetra (PSVita & Nintendo 3DS) Ys: Memories of Celceta (PSVita) & lastly Monster Hunter 4 (Nintendo 3DS)

I never said games out of the norm are good. I meant that it's nice to play something different every once in a while. It may not have been that good but I enjoyed it
