    New to thread and
New Subscriber. I'm also interested in placing an order for the automatic 8:1 SCART-RGB switch. I read above notes that pre-orders closed on jan 30th. I did subscribe to instant email notifications (?whatever that is?) Will I get a notification when you are taking orders, then do I send you a reply? I have never posted anything on any thread before so please forgive how naive this sounds, I have no idea how any of this works. If there is a way to get on any order list please let me know how to do this. Thank you for your consideration.

Well last time Super G just said that Preorders was open, people was directed to a site with links to order from his web store front.
    http://www.gretrostuff.com/store/

Also Retro RGB will make announcements on their YouTube Channel if and when any relative preorders including preorders for the Gscart swtich and anything else Super G does.

Far as I can tell its a far better than just having a list, as you will get a email invoice and records of the transactions.

Thank You for your reply. By the way, because I am new to all this I didn't realize my full name would be posted on every reply. Would you happen to know how to change this or close this account and start a new one?

You kinda want to pick a user name or handle to go by and not your real name. As for chaining you name, I got no idea. Try contacting the forum admins and see what they can do to help.

Sorry I probably should have clarified the jp21 instead of rgb.. but that is irrelevant anyways as when I get my xrgb mini I can order one with a scart adapter on retrogamingcables.whatever... however I do have one more question. Most of my consoles will be using csync, with the exception of n64 only running sync on composite and maybe the ps2 on a different sync as well. Can someone clarify for me how superg's scart switcher will handle different sync types? Thanks

I was considering waiting for the next preorder for the new gscart but may need a decent switch sooner. There is currently a 1.0 availible for purchase and I have a few questions that are proving hard to find specific answers to..

Besides the VGA output what else is different on the 1.0 vs the 3.4?

I'm going to be using it with SNES, Genesis, Dreamcast with Toro, PS1, RGB modded N64 and eventually a RGB modded NES all through a Framemeister. I understand that the 1.0 is not powered so I am concerned with compatibility.

Anyone currently using a 1.0 with any of these consoles?

    Thanks!

Looks like the first gscartsw revision with better MiniDIN->SCART cable!
You will get notification on every message in this topic. You can also follow me but I don't know how that work, maybe somebody can clarify this.
It usually works but I remember somebody had an csync Saturn issue so in Saturn case I recommend getting sync from composite.
A lot of things are different since v1.0. First version is a passive switch which takes power from SCART cables which means that all cables should be able to supply enough current to feed it up (original cables will have issues). Detection is performed on SCART pin 8 which should be correctly wired. There is no DC restore thus there may be more issues than with v3.4 but so far nobody complained.

I went ahead and grabbed that 1.0 off of ebay for now until the next preorder opens up just to have a switch in the mean time. May come in handy for my garage gaming setup down the road too.

Can you elaborate on the DC power cable attached to the "better MiniDIN->SCART cable" included with it?

    Thanks again!

I know that some of the owners ordered a custom cable from that retro cable eBay seller. As of the DC cable I'm not sure, you'll have to ask the owner.

Update: Case parts and power supplies are here, case plexi panels are on their way. PCB's are being manufactured, they will get the remaining SCART connectors from my supplier in a week.
    I will keep everybody posted.

    Spoke with the seller,

"If I remember correctly, it's a DC jack. You can use a power supply if you're having trouble getting a console to work. I think it's compatible with a Genesis power supply."

I'm assuming this is for going direct to a console not to the GSCART or the Framemeister. Doesn't sound like he ever used it.

I'll error on the side of caution on this one and not hook up a power supply.

Looking forward to the next preorder!!

    • There is no waiting list
    • Thread subscriptions only continue to notify you if you log in and read the latest posts in the thread (it may be possible to change this in your user options, not sure)
    • Following RetroRGB on Twitter is a good idea, he tries to update people when things go on sale (not just the gscartsw)
    • There is no waiting list
It's a Genesis power supply, you can search this thread for a post where superg tells people this and RetroRGB links to recommended 3rd party Genesis power supplies from Amazon.

So I should use a power supply?

I see where it says which PSU to use and the proper voltage/amps but I'm confused if it's required or not. I'd really hate to fry the switch or my Framemeister.

No, your switch version is passive, you're not required to use a power supply. You'll have to use it only if you use original cables some of which limit current.

I recently acquired a Sega Teradrive, which outputs VGA (PC monitor). Is it safe to hook it up with a VGA->SCART cable to the gscartsw, eventually going into the Framemeister? I don't want to risk damaging it.

Our would a VGA to HDMI make more sense (and hooking that up to the Framemeister)?

I don't see how that could work, H/V sync has to be combined to composite sync in order to forward the signal through gscartsw.
