    Thanks for the clarification.

All the cables I'm using are from retro_console_accessories so nothing original.

Update: All PCBs are manufactured, all SCART connectors are at my manufacturers storage, they said they are still waiting for some board components to arrive to start the assembly. Here I have everything waiting for the PCBs to arrive.

Will retrogamingcables' work well with the switch, or will they need more shielding in order to decrease noise?

Also, with the lite version, when is a good time frame to expect it to be out? Will it be largely cheaper, or just a little bit? Also, is there any downsides to using the lite when compared to the original when only using scart inputs?

From what I understand as long as the cable with the correct pin out they will work.
Noise comes from everything, scart cables, all the switches, the consoles them selves, their AC adapters, the blender running in your kitchen, ect.

Question for anyone that may know, I started running a Sony PVM 2950 -

I was running this cable (http://www.ebay.com/itm/121661260171) initially, using the VGA out of the GSCART, but certain games and parts of games (from Megadrive) were dropping the image

and I needed to get a specific cable from Retrogaming cables to get the GSCART to work (this cable featuring a "LM1881" sync stripper circuit) (https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk...art-to-4-x-bnc--2-x-rca-for-sony-pvm-monitors)

This took up my SCART out, but I wanted to still use the VGA style port

Was wondering if this cable would work? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Syncblaster-Cable-Scart-To-15-Pin-VGA-3-Metre-/161873284818 - in conjunction with the Retrogame cable I purchased, or if I can (or should) simplify and get this cable in conjunction with the above https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/sony-pvm-scart-converter-bnc)

Or?!?! Because I'm already running a sync stripper . can I just get something like this?? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Glaxio-2m...-Scart-Male-to-VGA-Female-Black-/291571105838

Sorry for the long post...thanks for reading! Long live the GSCART

eric90000 I was looking up info and I was going to suggest the same thing.

I Even found the pinout for the Analogue NT Mini's RGB, I think its the same as the GSCART, OSSC and Framemeister.
    1 - Red
    6 - Red ground
    2 - Green
    7 - Green ground
    3 - Blue
    8 - Blue ground
    4 - connect to 10 (?)
    13 - H synch (and C Sync)
    14 - V synch
    11 - ground for H synch and V synch

The problem is that SCART is only wired one way. You would only be able to go from DB15 to SCART and not the other way around with this cable.

He is looking for an Output only cable. Anyways DE15 and Scart are only connector types and has no baring on

Going back to brandonx76 for a moment, the GScart has a built in sync stripper and you do not need an additional outgoing sync stripper.
If anything, any of your console scart cables that has it's own sync stripper inside the plug can interfere with the sync stripper of your Switch.

Sorry, read that wrong. Thought he wanted to go from the SCART output to a DE15.

Heya, superg, Bob from RetroRGB suggested I ask you this, since you're one person who has a lot of experience in this area. So, I'm building myself a really simple passive switch system. This is not something I would ever want to sell (I imagine it won't be pretty or remotely elegant either). I don't really have the money to get into the whole SCART situation. Anyway, I was wondering if it is safe to tie the grounds of all my consoles together? It would eliminate one pin from the switch I'm building, which would be nice. Is there any reason I couldn't have all the consoles' grounds all connected? Would it cause any issues?

Thanks everyone - appreciate the quick response, and research efforts!

Yeah, I mean, I want to go "out" from the VGA/DIN on the GSCARTsw, to the input of my PVM (connected via the aforementioned sync stripped cable I already have from Retrogaming cables), which has a SCART female in, to my PVM...I think this Analogue cable should work, no? I don't mind trying, just don't want to damage any components.

As far as the CSYNC option on the GScart, I tried that actually, it didn't work in this case for this monitor...even my cables were CSYNC for the mega drive. I would say about 40% of games were having an issue (it would drop the signal entirely at certain parts of games). So the cable with the "LM1881" was the key (in my scenario and for this monitor)

As for why I don't just use the SCART out on my GSCART, well, that's connected to my framemeister which will allow me to capture gameplay with audio... so trying to maximize usage of the GSCART...I think this analogue cable (with RCA inputs as well) may be the key

I'm not sure about the console cables, try and see if they work well for you. For sure SCART male-to-male cable has to be good, most of the noise happens there. I'm not sure about lite at this point, I ordered another few prototypes this time, if testing will go well I will announce the details on availability. Currently we're looking at $180. Lite doesn't have any downsides comparing to gscartsw, it could even replace gscartsw at some point.

You don't need cable with LM1881. Sync stripping functionality is built in. There is toggle switch which you can use to enable/disable the stripper. It affects only SCART output, VGA has clean sync forced all the time. You had problems not with sync stripping but with cable quality. In fact it's bad to have signal passing two sync stripper circuits if you care about quality.
Why don't you get the cable from Monoprice? That was proven to be best VGA->BNC cable by a lot of users here. Read topic backwards to see the link, it was posted a lot of times.

    gscartsw VGA wiring:
    1: Red
    2: Green
    3: Blue
    13: Horizontal Sync
    14: Vertical Sync
    9: +5V
    5, 6, 7, 8, 10: Ground
    4, 11, 12, 15: Unused

Hi there. Yes, it's safe enough, all grounds are interconnected in gscartsw. There shouldn't be any issues.

Sorry if this was answered already.. 111 pages, and search can't find "5V" because it's too short!

Does the 5V line have to be present in the SCART cable? Is this what the switch uses to sense the console is on?

I recently did an RGB mod to an Intellivision with my own SCART cables (uses same pinout and port as XRGB mini). It works great on my XRGB mini and PVM. I did not send 5V down the line as it's not needed (the RGB amp outputs only 3.3V anyways).

The next round of pre-orders will probably be in a month or so, watch the thread for the announcement.

It uses the Sync line for switching, not the power. I think the old versions did use the 5v but he eventually changed it.
