    Understandable.

Bump on my question. Any recommendations?

When I get my dream setup I'll have a CRT next to my LCD. Can anyone recommend me the best way to convert VGA to SCART? There are a lot of images of various converters but I wouldn't know which work and which do not. My SCART out from my current switch goes into my XRGB Mini at the mo, with the GSCARTSW I can supply two TVs.

    Cheers!

You might consider a SCART distributor (1 SCART in, duplicated for 2 or more out). The problem with going VGA to SCART is that you've gone through all that effort to split out Horiz and Vert sync from the SCART signal only to put it all back together again. You might even consider just putting a VGA -> HDMI into the XRGB (provided that doesn't add lag).

Thankyou, I have been looking at SCART splitters but figured that if Superg's device outputs twice I wouldn't need another box. The conversion to HDMI would be less preferable: I would really like to get the VGA signal onto my CRT, hence converting it to SCART despite the recombination of sync signals.

Thankyou for the suggestion though. If there are any other recommendations for VGA to SCART I would really appreciate them.

Another good option: depending on your CRT, you can get simple VGA -> RGBs or RGBHV on BNC.

Are we supposed to get a preorder confirmation email? Sent payment before it was closed off.

Would something like this work? Obviously I'd need to attach this to a BNC to SCART breakout before going to the telly. My ideal solution would be to have this solved without using another wall wart adapter.

Thanks for your advice on this.

Oh, I was assuming you'd get a CRT that took BNC, such as a Sony BVM/PVM.

Im guessing this would work (assuming its wired correctly)
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SCART-Cable-to-SVGA-VGA-15-PIN-HD-PLUG-Lead-1-5M-UK-/361224212922

    edit:
not sure if it would need a slight rewire or not on the scart plug as its meant for the opposite conversion. the sync pin might not be on the right pin. should be an easy fix though if its not wired correctly.

I also have a quick question about using the VGA port. I’ve got a lovely BVM here that takes RGBs. If I’d set the
VGA HSync/CSync switch to CSync and use a run-of-the-mill VGA to 4BNC cable everything should be fine and dandy, right?

Apparently there is some problem with thread watching since the site upgrade. I don't always get email notifications when somebody posts anything here, annoying...

Guys, thanks everybody for your preorders, without it we wouldn't make it.

Now I'm confused, what are you trying to achieve?
    Is it:
    a) You have a device which outputs VGA and you want to connect it to the switch input and benefit from the automatic switching
    or
    b) You want to use the switch VGA output as a secondary SCART and connect it to separate TV unit

I believe if your payment wasn't refunded you're alright.

The one from Monoprice - yes, that'll work.

To everybody who has high hopes in native VGA output - keep in mind that a majority of VGA monitors don't support low resolutions. The switch doesn't perform any upscaling, what it does is just forwarding of signal (VGA / SCART RGB lines are electrically compatible) and splits the sync to HV (albeit sync is DC restored). You may get distortions, you may get no picture, it'll depend on your monitor. VGA port is included at a price of the connector and 3 caps because there is free VSync signal available from EL1883.

Thankyou Superg for the reply. I want to do the following setup...

All SCART leads from games consoles ----> GSCRTSW ----> SCART OUT ----> XRGB Mini ----> LCDTV via HDMI OUT
All SCART leads from games consoles ----> VGA OUT ----> VGA to SCART Conversion ----> CRTTV via SCART OUT

In essence I want to be able to split my games consoles' signals into my XRGB and CRTTV using the two outputs on the GSCARTSW. The only thing I don't know about is if there is an adapter / cable to convert VGA to SCART.

Got it, in this case you'll just have to use VGA out in CSYNC mode. What mickcris posted (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SCART-Cable-to-SVGA-VGA-15-PIN-HD-PLUG-Lead-1-5M-UK-/361224212922) may work given that there aren't any extra logic inside that custom VGA connector. Anyways it would be easy to rewire it if needed.

I'm currently using an XSYNC-1 box to split SCART up into VGA + L/R audio. I am hoping that your switch will eliminate the need for that; is that correct?

Technically, it's not even VGA, correct? Is it more accurate to say it is 15khz RGBHV via DE15?

Maybe that's being pedantic, but I think it would help a lot to dispel any notions that you're getting "VGA" (640x480) video, which you're not.
