Hi, Ive been watching this thread for a long time and missed the previous batches but finaly managed to catch the newest batch and put in my preorder! I'm super excited to get all my retro console collection all connected at once using this switch!

In preperation for the switch I started looking at buying cables for my various consoles and looking into mods for those that need it (definitely for the turbografx). However some don't have RGBMods such as the Laseractive and the model cdi I have.

Both of those have S-video mods but my TV lacks a S-Video input. I did some reading and see that European devises often didn't have S-video connections so some things outputted S-video over SCART. Is there some sort of adapter I can buy to convert S-video to SCART would that work with this switch and a XRGB-mini?

If this would work should I just use that with some of the lesser used consoles instead of getting them moded (or taking the risk to mod myself) or is the quality difference significant enough that I should bite the bullet and mod all the things?

    Thanks!

Well, you have to decide yourself if you go with RGB or you don't. Laseractive and CDi - meh, not so important. Laseractive can be replaced with proper Genesis/CD, CDi - some can be modded for RGB and I believe we'll find a way to mod more revisions in a near future. S-Video can be forwarded using gscartsw through adapters but it's either S-Video for all or RGB for all, you can't mix them.
Anyway regarding the image quality - it's up to you to decide if S-Video quality is enough.

Hey, superg. I've really wanted to get a gscartsw, and now that they're available... I have a bit of a dilemma. I contacted RetroRGB about all of it, and he mentioned that you're really busy, but hear me out here. I can't pay the down payment of $245 ($225 + $20 shipping) because of various factors money wise on my end, so I decided to think outside the box. I would like to know if you would accept a monthly payment to pay off all of the funds (including shipping, no less) necessary to getting a gSCART. I would be willing to do $49 for 5 months or $35 for 7 months. I'll message you later about this, but if you'd be willing to help me in this situation and accept my monthly payments to afford the gSCART, I would be very happy. Thank you.

Superg isn't running a business. He's making these switches by hand with the money we give him, some of which he puts up front himself. So if he were to cut you any sort of deal it'd be coming out of his pocket. Your best bet might be to pick up a cheap Hama switch and wait until you have enough cash to buy one of these. I don't think they're going anywhere any time soon, so my advice would be to go for one of the 4 port Hama switches that work perfectly fine and are short money.

Guys, SCART pre-orders will be opened until 06/17/2016. After that date I disable the pre-orders and order everything. Don't want to keep everybody waiting.
JP21 remains opened for now because only a few units were ordered so far.

OK, you have a good point there. I get that superg is really busy, so what you're saying is understandable. If anything, can you just send me a link to where I can got a Hana switch? It would probably help for the time being, thanks.

I bought mine from Amazon's UK website. I had to pay to have it shipped to the US, so it ended up costing me around $50 I think. You can also check on eBay
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/ol/B00006JAUZ/ref=mw_dp_olp?ie=UTF8&condition=new

They work really well but they're manual switches so you need to press a button to toggle between systems.

Superg, given that this round of orders is much larger than previous ones, how long do you think it will be before you start shipping units?

As I've stated on the order pages it's gonna take around 5 weeks once I stop the orders.

Alright. I think I can rangle up $245 bucks in time (by the end date, I mean). Think I'm gonna be a happy camper either way.

Oh, ok. I recall seeing the 5 week figure but I thought you had increased the number of preorders so I figured the wait would be longer. Thanks.

Well, that's an estimation, I will do my best regarding the dates but some stuff doesn't depend on me.

Just out of curiosity, what would happen if multiple connected consoles are on at the same time?

    Hi all,

Long time lurker first time poster.

I was lucky enough to pre order gscartsw euro scart model and i have a question.

The VGA out on the gswartsw option, should i buy the version that has 5 BNC outs( R,G,B, Hs, Vs) or 4 BNC outs (R,G,B, Sync)?? My PVM has R,G,B, Sync.

Second question - I have a PC CRT monitor that is 21 inches 4:3 and on the back it has VGA connection and 5 BNC inputs R,G,B, Hs, Vs. Will this scart adapter output to a VGA monitor and or to the 5 BNC connections?

For your PVM, you should buy the 4BNC cable.

Your PC CRT will most likely not accept a 15KHz RGB signal and won't be compatible with retro consoles. If it's one of the rare PC VGA monitors that is compatible, you'll probably want to get a 5BNC cable for that and a SCART to BNC cable for the PVM. Honestly though, most VGA monitors are not compatible.

You can use either 4BNC cable for your PVM or 5BNC one for your VGA monitor. There is ON/OFF switch which allows you to chose composite sync or hv sync.

Don't post to two threads, this one is the primary now.

There is a priority defined, INPUT 1 is top priority, then INPUT 2 and so on.
