picture of the T15000 - not sure how well the 'blueness' photos - but comparing a black one next to the T15000 it is very noticable.

Can anyone comment on whether this is the first piece of ps2 dev hardware that they have seen in any colour other than black?

I`m always impressed when i see more than one TOOL in the same picture lol.

One employee working overtime on a friday probably used some left over midnight blue plastic or whichever one it was, seeing as these units need like a couple of tons of the stuff.

I guess the little bit of round "stuff" on the top part of the blue PS2 Tool is where someone had previously glued an anchor point to the unit? I have a PSx Debugging station that has a huge metal anchor point. Absolutely no point trying to remove it as it would probably peel the top 3 layers of plastic. Adds to the weight of the unit a bit though.

I only thought the PS1 development kits came in various colours. Surely Sony didn't do this too often otherwise there would definately be more information / images online somewhere.

This is a first imho. Just out of curiosity, what PCI cards are inserted into the units? You should look to see whether you have a third HDD. That would mean you have an emulation HDD. That's where software was plonked to test it out. It could still contain software.

The Blue looks like Aqua, but as you say it's hard to see the real thing in that light. You do however appear to have a PS2 Aqua LE retail in the background of one image and the 2 blues look similar. That means you could bundle the PS2 Tool with Aqua controllers. What a nice unit

well spotted ;) yes that's a JAP aqua blue console from way back (got one of the white ones here somewhere too - they look really nice imo)

Yea the tools have anchor points (some still on some removed - they do come off without causing any damage just leave a bit of glue behind).

i'll have a peek inside later, i know it has a network socket built in rather than being off a PCMCIA slot.

    Cheers

"the tools have anchor points (some still on some removed...)"

The tools...some & some....that's plural of plurals. You have a few of these? Hmmm - any spares kicking about i.e. one that is so humped that the entire DVD drive could be rescued from it?

The largest haul of PS2 Tools that have surfaced on here of late have been called "The Manchester 10". I think the clue is in the name.

With an LE edition springing up, can you imagine if Sony produced it in white? Mmmmmm! That would be the big bad bastard for me!

with many thanks to Port187 i have got a TOOL running retails perfectly - both PAL and NTSC titles appear to be running fine (no need to change dip switch on the back of the TOOL either).

i followed the following instructions provided to me by Port187:

    go to /usr/local/sce/bin
    and type: ./dsedb -r
(your tv screen will go black)
now type the following: reset 0 2
of that doesnt work type: reset 2 100 (this is the command that worked for me)
wait a few seconds and you should get the game on screen running on your tv and debug running on your monitor.

then to change a game just swap the disc and do reset 2 100 again and it will reload the new game - pretty cool! :)

i take no credit for this, thanks 100% to Port187 for the details - but i can confirm 100% that it is working with both PAL and NTSC DVD Retails.

if anyone is interested i could post some pictures or even maybe a mini video?

    Cheers

    Matt

On that note I'll have to thank Unclejun that explained to me how to do it ;)

By the way the official way to exit a game is 'reset 0 0'

I got masterdisc's running fine on the TOOL (nashua's as premiums didnt work) but strange enough a Retail US didnt work on mine.
But ill have to continue testing as I probably did something wrong.
Will build some simple shell script to start the games directly from the prompt, when done ill post it here.

I used the link you sent me, thanks! Not heard back from them yet as to whether the laser is definately in stock or not, however I am purchasing a second PS2 Tool, which I am assured has a working laser and is a later model so presumably not using 400A type.
