    You're welcome!
I had to cut the last two pictures a bit, they were overlapping the updated text.

CPU in sight, tho I was hoping to replace the cpu carefully and fast without removing the card but came up to here:

Can't get that last part off, so probably need to get that whole card out and check the backside, but will leave that for the next time.
Parris, maybe you have any pointers on this one?

I see UJ has jumped in with a manual, which I will now have a look at too. As you said, I can see the memory stick PC-100 128Mb! Through the predrilled section of that weird frame (not seen anything like that on a standard PC) I catch "Intel".

I'd love to up-grade the processor & PCI card on the Linux side. Really interested to see what you dig up. :eek:h:

** Just downloaded the manual....1Ghz...256Mb SDRAM.

Nothing in the manual about that particular configuration of heat sink & clamp. I guess it unscrews from the back. Hope you take an image if you remove the card and flip it over.

Actually, looking at the chip size. If those screws passed through the board, they'd have to pass through the chip. Does it look like you might actually just have to prise the processor out of it's socket and that (plastic?) frame just lifts off too? How much pressure have you placed on the edge of the chip to see if you can lift it?

I noticed the same thing actually, tho i put as much pressure as I could on a installed board (so thats not too much) it wouldnt budge.. I can have a better try when I get the card out and no worries I'll make some pictures along the way ;)

    Uncle thanks for the manual!

Here are pretty clear images of the board in question: So if from the rear of your PS2 Tool you see the second image staring you in the face (distinctive blue VGA port and K.B. plus Mouse ports) I suspect this current line of enquiry regarding upgrading the processor will be of GREAT interest to you! Mattcp take note, this is the same PCI card in your T15k by the looks of it!

The only clear (hmm, really?) image I can get without the processor is as detailed in the manual. No holes through the PCB to indicate a heat sink or frame holds the processor to the socket using screws.

Ah, okay.... that's happened a lot with the PS2 Tool discussions. I'm just as guilty actually as it's difficult to keep track of which information is required in which thread.

[Edit] this is not the Test model thread I am sleeping LOL :) nevertheless this one can die as all info to play a game on a tool is also in the TOOL's basic thread and showing/discussion hardware issues here is quite offtopic :)

Now that is something I KNOW we are all guilty of! Therefore let's close this topic, but I shall lift the relevant information and place it into the next "PS2 Tool users guide".
