Actually....isn't it kind of true that nobody has a right to own a copy of it except the developers?

I'm not arguing whether or not we have the right to a copy, obviously if someone owns the only copy then it's up to them whether they release it or sell it or toss it on the fire. What I don't understand is why it's not ok to call them a hoarder, especially in the context of a post which was offering money for a community release.

Maybe collectors need to be a little less touchy about what other people think of them.

    Paging DRX to thread 16832.

What is so important about the physical copy? Yes, if you are a collector, having the physical copy is key to collecting. But what about the casual game enthusiast? Some people peed their pants when DRX released the early sonic 2 proto. I know people paid him money to release the Judgement Force beta. Money was exchanged for a service. The service was allowing others to experience something that was either formerly thoughy to be lost, or was unknown to begin with.

Warez hurts the video game / movie / music / etc industries. Those have a real market and peoples' jobs depend on it. There is no market for betas. They are illegal to have are not sold from a first party for any kind of profit. I fail to see a problem.

using your logic, it would be fine for the president to sell our nuclear secrets to other countrys. However, making photocopies of them...thats just crossing the line. Illegal is illegal. People make money everyday on this forum openly selling "illegally-obtained, copyrighted material".

There is one big thing you're overlooking here. A transaction that involves money for a public release can only be done once. Once a copy exists, infinitely more can be made. DRX will never get more money for Judgement force now that he has released it. The transaction is done, the collector has his compensation for sharing, and countless others can experience the game that was released. I still fail to see a problem (aside from the basis on our arguments that this trade is inherently illegal).

I think peoples opinion on the subject will never be similair, lol.

    I dunno what I think.

Oh, I didn't mean legal rights earlier BTW. I just figure a lot of the dev's who work on some of those games might consider them there babies or something, and some might just release it themselves or something. I just figure it might be important to them.

No it isn't. I'll defend someone's right to free speech but that doesn't mean I condone what they're saying. Just because someone has a right doesn't mean we have to like it, and if anyone honestly get that offended by the term "hoarder" then I'd direct them to my previous comment about being less touchy.

Again, I totally respect someone's decision not to release something they own, and I defend their right to do so. You can't expect people not to call you a hoarder, though, if you've got something that everyone wants; it's to be expected, and it doesn't mean anything.

Not so much a question of morality as a question of demand. All those who pay for a dump do so of their own free will, and they're all aware of the terms of the transaction. Also, if we want to get into the morality of illegally obtained dev materials then I think >90% of the forum are guilty. As an M2 fanatic you certainly own dubiously acquired items, I'd even going to go out on a limb and speculate that you've paid people who acquired their items through workplace theft (certainly, somewhere along the line this has occurred to the items you own) - doesn't this wrack you with guilt?

Let's just be honest here... You simply can't be in this type of collecting market without being a hypocrite in one form or another. It is just the nature of the beast.

Everyone in the world is a hoarder. All you people that dont go and buy the betas yourself, you hoard your monies. All of us who have protos that we havent released, we're hoarders. So there, we're all on even grounds lol

Sorry if you took "hoarder" as an insult but I did not mean it, personally it is okey with people not releasing their stuff, I would understand someone who hs paid alot of moeny not wanting to release what he paid for. But I don't consider that an insult.
I was just saying that IF it ever get released or sold I would donate for a community fund since it's one of the most desired betas by ANYONE, that was my context and point.

i think we have create this problem, why?

bioflamesuser post maybe six years permanent: "i neeeed re1.5", "i sell my body for it" and in thousand other boards the same - and the collector(s) read it and think: hey nice one i have the rarest game on earth, my DARLING, i never release or make a copy of it.

Some collectors search for the ultimate rare beta... a sickness.

I never knew Freddie Mercury owned the elusive RE1.5 beta! ;-)

Seriously though, you sound like you're whining with the way you word it. Stop being a fanboy about it. If you can't get it there's no point in whining.

most copys in the united states and some in europe. The original source is unknown. This is my thoughts about the storyline of copys.
