Yeah, was about to ask for those. And I find it incredible that no one brought a bottle of shampoo, I bet you could do funny things in a mountain of foam XD
No bags, so quite limited to what one could bring And I only had my standard kit lens with my max of 55mm, so I couldnt get any close ups Those were all pretty heavily cropped.
I took the little one to Fukuoka Zoo today and while I was there tested out the photographic section of my Panasonic HD video camera. The results were hit and miss to be honest. While the camera takes video in full 1080p with fantastic results including sudden dark to light and vice version scenarios all in automatic mode, it doesn't seem to cope too well for photos. A x8 zoom in manual mode of a Rhino. Looks pretty detailed and good focus to me. x 3 zoom in semi automatic mode (Lighting / ISO was automatic) with decent results. x3 zoom in full auto mode of this stunning peacock. Unfortunately the detail just isn't there. That wire cage doesn't help mind you. Yakumo
@Yakumo - Those are some good shots considering the equipment limitations! Though I assume there's plenty of crap shots as well judging by your description. @Unorthodox - Damn! What kit did you use? My father has a little old Celestron telescope (mirror style) with a camera attachment - only problem is the mounts are for old Canon FD and Olympus OM (since that's what my father and mother shot, respectively, back when they bought the thing). It's fun to use with an FD>EF adapter, though not perfect.
Yeah, there are many crappy shots because I used the automatic mode most of the time. Never again though. Manual is the way to go when taking pictures with a video camera. They just aren't set up right for auto picture taking. Videos are fantastic but pictures, nope.
lol..my amateurish tries of macro photos: One frame rip of a kite, doin' his power dive to his lunch:
Some shots from the garden. Nothing special, but I thought the lilac's bloom was too beautiful to pass by. and a random shot of my turntable:
Great photo updates guys! Unortho, what telescope were you using? incredible shot! Tatsujin, those are fine mate, bit more light on that second photo and it would have been awesome! Got my Tamron 90mm Di SP lens yesterday, here's a random "arty" shot of a house spider, taken while drunk and sat on the kitchen floor at midnight.
Yeah, already last summer. I couldn't imagine a better player for the 300 bucks that it had cost me, every screw of it screams quality. Good thing about the 1210mk2 is that I can switch it manually from 110 to 220V, so I can take it with me no matter where I may roam Oh, and I believe that's Pink Floyd's "Meddle" playing on the picture ;-):033:
More Tamron 90mm shots, getting more comfortable with it now. These are all focus-stack images as today was miserable and light was low.
Amazing shots Tachikoma, you might try using the burn tool in photoshop on them to make the background darker and make the subject stand out a bit more. Wonderful amazing shots though! Here's one I took today in my office: Phidippus Audax, commonly called the Daring Jumping Spider (about 13mm in length).
Cheers fella! Awesome shot, I have been after a jumping spider for weeks now, I found one on top of my shed the other day, but the little bugger was on speed, wouldn't keep still at all, and he was about 4mm so wouldn't have been easy to shoot. Tell you what though, for his size he was really aggressive, I was trying to herd him and get him to turn to face me, and he was rearing up and going for me. Would have been a great shot if he wasn't so small and I was shooting handheld.
I know what you mean! This critter I found kept jumping on my camera when I would get close enough to have him in focus. Blinding him with the light of a thousand suns only made him angrier, too. Took 15 minutes of failed attempts before I got this shot... handheld with a manual-focus macro lens.
