Dude I remember when people was complaining that sonic games weren't deep enough and that SEGA should add a story and dialog like Nintendo did to Mario64.

I just want a Sonic game that represents a serious attempt at revolutionary gameplay, not a half-assed remake.

I feel like that's asking too much. There hasn't been a serious attempt at revolutionary gameplay in a looong time imo.

Its doesnt have to be a industry-changer, just a gameplay that doesnt affects the flow of the game like most of the 3D titles did

The issue with Sonic is that it does not lend itself to 3D like Mario did. Sonic thrived on the speed. That is hard in 3D.

Hopefully the gameplay of Sonic 4 will capture what made 2D Sonic so fun, so we may forget the travesty of 3D Sonic.

Wow those comics were pretty interesting lol, I had to save some of them. Anyways, I'm excited about Sonic 4, but I'm not freaking out about it. Its a nice attempt, and I'm glad to see they actually made an attempt. People have been only saying for years to do it. As far as new sonic being in an old environment, meh, its better than nothing. Sure I would prefer a complete retro style, just revamped somewhat like the Sonic HD project, but we aren't really at the point to complain anymore.

Its been complained about too long, and the fact they actually listened once to the old Sonic fans and made an attempt is good enough for me. My only complaint I really feel like bothering with, is the fact that its just a downloadable game. It sorta "cheapens" the whole thing for me that I can't get it in a box. At least do what they did with the Megaman game they released DLC and have a limited boxed edition or something.

As for the game itself, who knows. I'll wait to play it to form my opinion on what I think should be and should not be. In the end, its nice this project even came into making. Now if it was the original team getting together and working on making this, I would be a bit more excited.

More screenshots have been released now.

I'm starting to get a little bit scared that this might not just be total tosh.

It's a remake: same game, better graphics.

Unless they fuck it up with the controls (or that 2D homing attack) is going to be the same than the first 4 games.

Nope, one thing is going back to 2D like the Mario games, and the other is to just remake the old stages, like most if not all of those screenshot show.

You'll be playing the same old game again, yay for trying eh?

I'd be sold if they'd get rid of that bastard new-age sonic model.

When I look at the screenshots, some how it captures the same magic for me that I would get when looking at Gamesmaster and CVG magazine screenshots back in the day, before I had the Internet. That gets me excited!
