It was released in the UK for iPhone this morning. I've done a quick review in the member articles forum.

Works perfectly on the 3G, a few framerate drops but I find the best way is to enable airplane mode.

    Sorry for the double post.

In that case I might get it on iPhone to tide me over until next week.

Turns out it's actually $9.99/£5.99, which is much better pricing.

It's a fun game to have on the 3G, I don't play may games on the iPhone but Sonic 4 is a keeper, mainly due to the time attack mode..

It'll probably crash on first load by the way.

Can't say I've had the most positive experience ever with Sonic 4; I've had nothing but stuttering sound and frame rate. I've rebooted the phone twice and done a couple of hard resets and it's not made any difference.

From what I sat through the game seems really great, but I really can't rate it at the moment as it's unplayable in its current state.

    Can't wait for the console-release next week :) :cur_sonic:

Strange, I'm running it on an 8GB 3G OS 4.1 and it's perfect.

One last reboot and everything's running fine here too. Huzzah!

Sonic certainly goes at quite a pace once he gets the speed up and I've obtained one Chaos Emerald already. Overall I'm really liking this and looking forward to next week even more now.

I don't get it. Japan is 9 hours ahead of the UK but we still don't have it. Yet again we've been shafted with an iphone release date :crying:

Sonic 4 Episode 1 is really worh the cash IMO, had allot of fun completing the game this weekend.

For those who like to see the PS3 version in action, I recorded a gameplay video of the PlayStation 3 version featuring Super Sonic footage :). You can check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzxiOu1LJfA

Well, Sonic 4 finally got an iPhone release today (12th October) in Japan and I must say that I'm quite happy with it. It plays like a true old Mega Drive Sonic game and I do like the effort they've put in to making the audio sound Mega Drive'ish. I'm not too keen on the "walking" exit from a big spin jump since it's easier to be hit. I'd rather they had kept Sonic Spinning.

It's not perfect but this is defiantly a step in the right direction and one that all TRUE Sonic fans will enjoy. I'll defiantly be buying it on the 360 for some solid controls. Pay no attention to what the Sonic Kiddies say. They weren't even born when Sonic was around.

Got the Wii version yesterday, played for about 40 minutes. Hated the music, but the game seems ok so far. Audio in general is just a bad mix of effects from other games. Will try to use motion control later. I still think that Sonic Rush is the best 2D Sonic made in the last 10 years.

IMO Rush was like NSMB: an old classic with a twist. This sonic 4 game is just a remake more or less.

And thats the problem for me: Nintendo is able to keep the old formula alive while releasing new stuff like Galaxy, but SEGA screwed up the original and doesnt exactly put a lot of effort into making a 3D version that doesnt sucks

Maybe thats because Nintendo don't actually make a lot of games and never have done. Most of "their" titles are by out-house programming studios. This leaves them much time to concentrate on whatever project they have going. Sega on the other hand have many studios with a fair few in-house projects. The problem witb Sega is that they keep giving the important stuff to others to program. They really need to sort that out. Saying that, Dimps have done a pretty good job with Sonic 4 even if it is basically a remake.

I got the Wii version and it's really good!

At first it feels like I m playing Sonic's cousin and the camera is too close to Sonic..but once I got used to the settings I kept playing like a pro - got myself 3 chaos emeralds already and I m discovering secrets etc. I m partying like it's 1992!!

Well I guess yesterday I was in a bad mood! Gave it another hour, and now I'm really enjoying it. I can sort of see some of Rush in it. Good job so far, Dimps!

This game's utterly bollocks. The physics are totally broken. I'll be sticking to the old games.
