Yay for some future asshole that will leak content from PartnerNet, which will alert Microsoft, and shit will hit the fan..

Well atleast this will discourage those "assholes" from getting Devs and leak shit ;p, they'd rather go for the cheaper jtag.

As it's cool to see the 360 Homebrew scene starting to stir up, an actual kit will always be dominant to a jtagged 360 IMO. There will always be those certain perks on a legitamate Devkit that will never make it to jtagged console, ever.

Ha. May I remind this isn't even close to a dev. No debugging yet. Hopefully an XDK kernel will be bootable soon

People who leak are always going to leak. And it's not like 360 test/dev kits are uncommon. If you had a grand you could get one pretty easily on the secondhand market.

Retail as XDK didn't kill PartnerNet with the Xbox. It won't kill it with the 360.

A freeBOOT retail will be useful to two groups of people:
    1) Those that want to get into the beta scene and play what they buy (thanks to the unsigned code ability)
    2) Those that want to code on the cheap. No you can't debug (yet) but you can still compile and then deploy.

Most iXtreme pirates aren't going to bother with freeBOOT because it takes a lot more work to setup and hey, they've already got their "FREE GAMEZ!," so what do they care?

The barrier to entry for running unsigned code has always been a monetary one in the past. If you had the cash, you could get a kit. Now, there's a technical option for those that have the soldering skill but not the cash for a proper kit.

In the end, the more people there are programming the more likely it is we'll see some really creative stuff come out of the system.

Well well well, a way to dump all liteons today and unsigned xex's on a retail 360 welp had to happen sometime right.

XB1 didn't have xbla, etc. That little arcade disc doesn't count. If you can't pay 1000 for a kit and get into the "beta scene", you don't belong.

So the people that actually work to make something do something that it's not supposed to do, do not deserve to get the benefits of their hard work? But those people that just buy a kit to mod halo can? Thats not exactly fair now is it?

XBLA on PartnerNet is not a big deal. It's not like any of the important stuff happens on PartnerNet anyway. All the nifty stuff happens elsewhere. ;)

Just because someone has money, doesn't mean they have skill. After all, look at all the people who wanted to buy dev kits just so they could "mod" Halo. Using a map editor on a game is by far the most basic definition of modding. Far more impressive are those that can code things from scratch.

Hobbyist programmers don't usually get into a system until it can run unsigned code. XBMC would never have happened (and arguably would have never influenced the design of the 360's original dashboard) if an unsigned code hack had never been found for the original Xbox.

When it comes to dev, knowledge is much more important than wallet size and with a hack like this those who have the knowledge can start putting it to real world use. Both for themselves and distributing to others.

The end result should be some homebrew that's much more impressive than basic level editors.

    ;)

True, but the money kept the truly awful people out of the scene, for the most part anyway. Douche bags who want to ruin things generally don't have $1000 to blow.

While I do look forward to generally orginial creations, rather than the stolen stuff that's being shown off in the video that's floating about, there is a cost to this.

I would like to create a program that would decrypt .mogg files from "The Beatles: RB".
