Having a problem here. I'm using a 2GB micro SD card that worked perfectly up until OS v.23. I updated to OS v.28 but nothing works. When I select a game I get Prog. error 120 and when I try to rollback to v.23 I get Update Error 120. :banghead: Tried formatting the card with FAT and FAT32 at the maximum allowed cluster sizes, but to no avail. I have firmware version 5. Any help?
Like I said, already done that. Krikzz when exactly do you mean? Before the system passes the Licensed by Sega screen or before I even press the power button? Should I press and hold the keys? I've tried and it doesn't do anything... Also, OS v23 is not the OS that arrived with the cart. I bought the cart through the first group purchase here in this forum. So it was probably OS v10 or something... Ok I figured it out, I've got a buggy bootloader, going to try the game joypad initialization trick. I did once in the past and it worked so let's see now.
press A+B+C before power on and keep pressed until reserve os copy will not be loaded. aslo some old carts may use A+B+C+UP combination. i wonder which SD card brand you use? edit: also you could try to press keys when OS already loaded and press reset, so A+B+C+UP+RESET
I have a problem that seems like the the one f2bnp is having. Received ED from Tototek this week. I had a 4GB SDHC ready for it, but it came with OS 23, so I used a 2GB one to upgrade to 28. But it seems nothing is working... I tried v23 and 28, lots of prog error 120 and WR1 or something like it when writing games. I'm using a Sandisk SDHC card (class 4) and a Kingston 2GB. Also, tried it in Japanese Mega Drive, and a Genesis CDX, with similar results. Any tips? edit: got it to write Phantasy Star 4, but it hangs after the SEGA logo. Happened with CDX and Mega Drive. Sonic also started, but before the "SE-GA" voice, it hangs. both on OS 28
Problem Resolved! No hard feelings you were just trying to be helpful, so thank you Krikzz, I have one of the carts from the first group purchase here. So it's got OS v.6. In another thread you noted that some of the carts though have a bug in the Bootloader which prevents joystick initialization. So I used another game to initialize the controller, pulled the game off, inserted the everdrive and did a soft-reset while holding the buttons. It worked and I flashed back to OS v.23. Now for some reason it will not load a couple of 4mb games giving me an unsupported ROM error, but I probably just have to download them from elsewhere. I don't care much about them anyway. For your information, I'm using a 2GB Sandisk card. Anything less than that has never worked for me, be it 1GB, 512MB or 256MB. Could you support lower capacity SD cards, as I have quite a few laying around and the Megadrive games I want to play don't surpass 60MBs in size?
i have a lot of carts, some of them has very small size (64mbyte) but all of them works, so i can't say why your cards does not work. may be old firmware is a problem.
firmware is 13. I can write the roms with success now, but either games don't start or hang right after start. Any tips on a way to find out what's wrong?
I used romcenter to check them, NoIntro dat files. edit: for info... got to load SMS Phantasy Star ROM, and it seems to be OK. Played for a few minutes. Also played Aleste. edit 2: Streets of Rage 2 booted, but whenever a voice is triggered, the system hangs. I can even start to play, but as soon as I jump kick or do anything that triggers a voice, the system hangs.
I have Mortal Kombat II here with me and it works, but using ED it does not. Also, just tried Moonwalker and it behaves the same way as Streets of Rage II: when a voice is triggered, it hangs.
enabled genny3, but same result with Streets of Rage 2, KRIKzz edit: tried Streets of Rage 1, also same problem. Game boots, I can even play, until voice is triggered. all cart games I have here work: World Cup 90, Jurassic Park Rampage Edition, MK II.
oh well... I guess that's what I'll have to do. Can you PM me the address, please? thanks for the help
