new MD os v24 available! http://krikzz.com/pub/support/index.php?dir=everdrive-md/os-bin/ most important changes: 1) SDHC support 2) FAT32 3) flashing speed up 4) new save system. from now all save data will be stored in /EDMD/SAVE/****.srm where "****.srm" is rom name about 70% of code was rewriten, but i still not tested new OS a lot, so may be some bugs is possible
thanks KRIKzz! hope that you will add megakey region forcing in v25 what does the 1X on main menu mean?
nope, just put the os file on the sd card, and go to toolbox, upgrade os, and pick the os file and it'll update.
it is a accelerated flashing mode. some m29w640 flash chips have no accelerated mode by some reasons, but it pretty rare case. if flash chip not support accelerate mode, then you should see "1X"
Sorry, if I upgrade MD v24, ¿What happens with the old save file? ¿Flashcart will work with the old and the new save files? Thank you Krikzz.
old saves not work, so you should backup them manually under old OS if you want to use them. for backup them you should load game, then copy save data to sd via toolbox->save load sram
What's the advantage to FAT32? Will FAT32 be making its way to the Master System ED? Ask because I use the same SD card for both.
fat16 disk limit size 2 (or 4GB), fat32 can be use for huge size disk. can't probis that master ED will take fat32 support, but it is possible. by the way, better to use max available cluster size, usually i set 32bk when i format my sd cards. it could give some speedup
My Everdrive says 1X in corner, does that mean my Everdrive is incapable of flashing at the faster speed? thats a bummer considering I bought in the last group buy batch
flashing speed diffirence between 1x and 2x about few seconds for 4mb rom on current carts. huge speedup available for old carts in 2x mode because they have more fast sd port, but they has not very good SD cards compatibility. but anyway new OS should flash faster than old on your cart even in 1x mode
aight. probably should add a warning in original post about the whole 'cant use your old saves' thing, that is sure to piss some people off if you don't, or maybe a tool could be made to split up the old save file
I don't see the reason why Master Everdrive should get Fat32. The full set of roms has 300mb +/-. The real improvement will be on the SNES everdrive that has a set of 6GB, no-intro set.
250 current limit. i already found one bug. looks like files which marked as read only or archive is invisible for OS menu. i guess that all previous os have same bug
