That would be your files being .md is your problem then as no Intro is in that format and Everdrive can only play .smd and .bin files.

.Gen is a .Bin so download the latest good set and select non available roms from Non Good and Prototype sites and simply download a file renamer software and change everything .Gen to .Bin and away you go.

 

No, it seems to be a common confusion though.

.md, .gen or .bin, that's all various extensions for the SAME raw binary dump format that every dats are using now, all are compatibles with Everdrive.

.smd are ROMS in an interleaved format that were produced by old copiers and cannot be played straightforward with Everdrive, they need to be converted back in the RAW format.

I am not even sure Everdrive OS cares about file extensions, I think it will check first for a valid ROM header and enable Genesis mode (reported as SMD ROM type in the menu) if found so the extension you have maybe doesn't matter, just need to be in the RAW format.

 

os does not look at file extension, so only internal header are important

hi krikzz, i've got this weird problem that just started happening since using OSv28
(cart rev 2.2, fw 12).

Before I start - my 2GB sandisk sd card is switched to "write protect off", just in case you assume it is the cause of the following problem..


Problem: If I have the option "sram auto backup : ON" and proceed to load any game, I get the messages: "loading...copy sram to sd...prog error: 100"
I started troubleshooting and found that if I turn sram auto backup OFF, then the game will load - but obviously there exists a major save problem here.

I tried and tested saving to the sd card using the toolbox commands in save/load sram. If I "save to new file", I get "save error: 100". But if I "save to file", I it saves successfully.

I can't figure out whats happened here. I connected the sd card to a PC and reformatted and tried a few roms again - still the same problems.

Could you pls tell me what these error codes mean before I troubleshoot further? Thanks

EDIT: forgot to mention - on the sd card, my EDMD folder has about 7 SAVE folders, and are all empty. Is this right? I thought there was only supposed to be one SAVE folder and just has SRM files in it? Thanks

 

error 100 mean that file not exist or OS can't find file. 7 SAVE folder it is definatelly some crazy bug. os can't find save folder and always try to make new

 

Oh, that's not good. Do you have any ideas on how I could fix this?

 

Krikzz, I created the /EDMD/SAVE/ folder but it ruins the display of the alphabet order of the roms folders.

Is there a way for it to be invisible ?

Or have a different name like /!EDMD/SAVE/ with the ! it will be the first item on the list and everything would be fine.

Not a big problem.

Just a cosmetic care, to make the Everdrive more pretty. It dosn't affect anything.

Okay I tried that now, still have the same problems. This is really strange problem, i'm running out of options here. No one else has experienced this?

 

also you can try to format sd card, then put one game on the card, then try to flash this game. may be if card will be empty, then os will be able to create system folders with success

I still get random "sel error: 50" messages when i try to select a game. i have to power off and on the console and try again

 

error 50 mean that OS can't init your SD card. v28 use other init algorithm for SDHC compatibility and your card does not like such init algorithm by some reasons

When I try to update I get "update error: 143" after "Verify buff..."

Anyone know what's up?

 

probably some v28 random bugs. then you should use A+B+C for call repair menu and fat16 SD card
