First of all I want to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your time Donnyk! I really appreciate that! My Question(s): Which unreleased Dreamcast and Saturn games have you seen? Can you confirm any working builds? Like Geist Force - there are builds out there but unfinshied. Or like Max Payne - was this port really just an announcement?
I know he's selling his copy right know. It was just an example... insert Propeller Arena, Half Life, PBA Tour 2001 or The Flintstones (PAL White Label) instead. A short list of confirmed working builds of unreleased games would be awesome!
Great questions i look forward...Any other playbale build titiles(saturn/Dreamcast) that didnt see the light of the day would be great to know.(exept Geist Force, propeler arena) Max Pane on Dreamcast?!
This might be a kinda TOO hot question to be answered but.... oh, well!! What kinds of Protos/Unreleased games (betas etc) and hardware do you actually own?? O_O Is this too much to ask? I am eager to know!
Any info on a Mega Drive/Genesis (and/or 32X) adaptor for the Saturn cartridge slot? I remember there was speculation in magazines back in the day, but I don't think it was ever confirmed. It always surprised me that the Saturn was not backwards compatible when every single other prior Sega generation right back to the SG-1000 had been backwards compatible in some form or another.
Yup, that was me. After I sold the Sonic Xtreme disc anonymously (I was afraid of the Sega ninjas at the time) the person helping me sell asked if I had any other rare stuff and I told him about the Geist disc and told him it wouldn't boot. I'm the same person... and that is the same disc I really think this is the only one outside of Sega out there, and I don't think that even Sega today would know where these discs were if they still existed. The only unreleased games I worked on were Deep Fear for the US Saturn (which I will be selling here very soon), Propeller Arena and Half Life 2 which I sold 10 years ago when I first left the company and Shenmue II USA version which as I stated already in this thread was done and ready for release but was pulled because Microsoft bought the rights to it. The producer came by and personally accounted for each and every burn and they were sent back to Japan.
Good point. I kinda ignored the "10 years" part. I was more focused on the fact that he said he mainly worked on the Dreamcast and HL2 had difficulty even running on Xbox. Anyway, it was probably just a typo.
There are a couple of other Geist Force GDRs out there with differing versions in various playable(ish) states.
Hello DonnyK, do you have any info regarding the playable demo of Sonic X-treme that was shown on e3 '96??? If i'm certain, the only thing you could do as a player was collect rings around a green gem.. what happened to that build??? thanks!
I actually replied to this with a good post but my browser crashed and didn't feel like retyping it at the time. Sega has a decent archive but they lost the vast majority of things they created over the years. They were horrible with keeping up with archiving. Even when I went to SOJ they just had random shit under tables and on top of cabinets. I pretty much had access to every area in SOA and outside of the licensing department, no one kept up with the Sega history. To be quite blunt, the people who were higher up treat it as a job and don't really care about the company. It's sad but many of you guys have collections better than Sega has.
thanks for your replay... wow thats astounding to hear of the sloppy archival keeping sega did the photo and flicker albim i posted links to is from 2008 during a moves from the origanial building to a new one and by the looks of the drawers in the flicker stream looks like sammy made damn sure the Dreamcast archive was preserved and given they are bringing Dreamcast games to XBL and PSN there is even more hope also that one thread here where that guy has litterly every item ever produced during the Dreamcast era that guy is a GOD to me LOL again thanks for your replay but eather way ide become a Eunuch just for 5 mins in segas archive so many DC beta and near finial and finial disks
No companys gave a damn. The only ones that properly preserved any are the ones that could see in the future there might be a service that allowed them to resell the games.
Any info about two games from the flickr album (sega archives) - Dee Dee Plant and something called 'Farnation'. Copies of both can be seen in the flickr album... Can you confirm that Dee Dee was scrapped because of a bug and can you tell us anything (at all!) about Farnation?
I did an eval on Dee Dee planet and had no clue it was scrapped till I read it here. I just assumed it was a Japanese release only. We turned it down for localization and odds are SOE did too so maybe it go canceled cause they couldn't sell it world wide. I don't know to be honest.
