Photo leak of possible PS3 Slim...

The issue is bandwidth. The EDRAM on the PS2 makes it very hard to emulate accurately with the correct speed etc.

nVidia is hiring EDRAM engineers though...

 

So the speculated date that they're suppose to ship according to rumor is tommrow(8/18/09)? If so I wonder if I could get a 100 dollar difference for buying a fat a week ago.

the first run of PS3 had almost perfect compatibility too, but they axed it.

I have one of those, and the emulation is pretty fair. At least after a few firmware updates to fix stupidness introduced in the image post-processing.

 

Yeah, and some of those exact same games were rereleased with shoe-horned motion sensing control too!

 

Those were actually good games, coming from nintendo, that got the Wii treatment. They're good games nevertheless.

 

My 80gb does not have PS2 compatibility at all, though maybe it matters if it's an NTSC/U machine.
But that's why I found a 60GB. L:O

 

It's supposed to be announced today, the 18th, and ship around the last week in August/first week in Sept. Sony's press conference kicks off at 6PM in Germany, which is 9AM PST.

Latest stories from Kotaku:
1. PSN will be shut down starting at 9AM PST for "maintenance".
2. Retailers (FYE poster shown for proof) are dropping the price on all PS3 fatty models by $100, "while supplies last".
3. Box art shown for the new game "EyePet" sports a redesigned look, suggesting a "relaunch" of the brand. Still no "PS3" logo, but the "Playstation 3" logo is now gone, and only appears in the transparent top corner of the box, barely visible. Might not be final.

All of these things really make it more and more likely that it's going to be announced today. Guess we'll find out in 9 hours.

Also most retailers across the nation and in the UK are cutting old model PS3s by $100. We still have to wait till 9 (pacific time) though for the press conference

 

Think if they announce that they are cutting the prices today that I'd be able to go to best buy and get a price difference the same day? Only reason I bring that up is because I actually prefer the fat model to the slim model.

PS3Slim it is! At 299 and 120GB HD, doing the same as the "fat" one, i guess i'll finally get one.

PS: Probably external AC Adapter as well, which is better.
