Have you found an explaination for "shutter" yet? Is it perhaps screen capture, i.e. you press the button to capture the video output?

You've got to keep on time (to within +/- 10 seconds), not break any speed limits & stop within -/+ 3m of a specific stopping point at stations - and that's at the easier settings. :) You don't need the pocket watch to play & to be honest, I'm not going to continuously fuss with it's settings - I got it coz I happen to like pocket watches!

Good luck with that, mate! Good old BR was never perfect, but I can't say that I'm much impressed with the new privatised railways. But that's a rant best saved for another time...

UJ, have you managed to see the contents of the white/orange box as well? I assume that the 'shutter' button allows you to print off a snapshot of the current screen? I'm actually quite puzzled how the WP part of this was supposed to work now, what with there being no physical keyboard & only memory cards for I/O.

Yakumo, what exactly were the PC discs used to install? Do they imply some kind of PC connectivity?

I think the shutter button is clearly here to do a printscreen, I will try it wen I get paper for the printer, another day probably...

limey, I could be mistaken about the orange box version, but the notice shows the device without the video in/out connectors, so it's either a simplified diagram or an other version.
I won't spend 25.000 yens to find out...

It's a regular printer so it should work on a computer too, hence the need for drivers(for dos/V and pc-98).

Excellent! Well, let us see it when it's all up and running. Using the controller to "type" a message is going to be a slow process. I can see why word processing with the PSx is something most of us have never heard of. I found it necessary to obtain a USB keyboard for the 360 for the same reason. Spending $600 on the proto is a bit steep just to be able to use a keyboard eh!

And there's no guarantee that the keyboard adapter works with the software anyway...

They were just driver discs to use the printer on a PC. The printers are just normal cannon inkjet printers with a special connector to connect to the console. They work on a PC just fine with the right cable.

Yakumo/UJ, thanks for setting me straight - got my hopes up there for a moment. Being able to use the printer on a PC makes sense - possibly more sense than the PS WP package does... Overall, it does seem like a bit of an oddball product - the ability to print off the screen seems the most practical thing about it. Interesting, all the same.

Not much in the way of games this week, only Worms on the Saturn but I did pick up the Die Hard Ultimate box set. It features Die Hard 1 to 3 including the extended versions and special features DVD for each movie. There's even an alternative ending to Die Hard 3 that's nothing at all like the original. The 4th disc int he set I've yet to look at. Probably a Die Hard 4 promotion DVD.

Didn't know you were such a big die hard fan. That set has been out here in the U.S. for quite awhile, I've thought of getting it but not sure if its really worth it. Btw have you seen die hard 4 yet? Or has not been released in japan yet?

Too much movies on the same "computer hacking crap" subject definetely killed all movies trying to do the same again and again, but a "realistic" hacking movie wouldn't be a blockbuster.
I wonder how's the dubbing in the japanese version for yippee-ki-yay?
(when I heared the poor translation we had in france)

Totally off topic, but out of interest UJ how exactly did they translate "Yippe-ki-yay Motherf*cker" in French?

Just as a side note, the Jeep Cherokee is used in DH4.0 and as such features in a plethora of new adverts throughout the UK. Bad timing for Jeep however as at very same time we've been seeing another Jeep Cherokee bursting into flames as it tried to flame-grill Terminal 1 at Glasgow Airport. That's the kind of product placement money cannot buy!

I don't remember what it was in the 1st and 3rd movie, but in the 2nd one, "Die Harder", when Mcclane is about to drop his lighter to blow up the plane, "yippee ki yay motherf*cker" becomes "c'est pas la saint-jean, mais c'est pas grave", nice dubbing heh!

No idea since I saw the English version with Japanese subtitles :) All movies apart from kids stuff is in the original language in Japan with dubbed (Japanese) versions being shown only a few times a day and never in digital format :110:

To be honest though they never translate the bad words the same. Son of a Bitch is quite common but I've seen about 5 different translations for it in movies with none being correct.

Hmm, better get back on topic. errr, today I bought a hat for my son
